Cole Hamels completes the no-no against Chicago!

First time in 50 years the Cubs have been no-hit.

i was at a phillies game with the same outfielder did the same thing but dropped it for a 3 run triple. he's scary.

hamels just showed ALL OF MLB why to trade for him! The no - hitter is coincidence. I'm referring to his talent and ability to mow teams down.

all this talk of cueto, samardzija, and a slew of others. hamels to me is the best available pitcher out there with playoff and world series experience.

for the love of baseball and God, i hope someone offers the phils the right deal for him.

this should be his last game as a phillie. he punched his ticket out of town.

piece of history - carlos ruiz joins jason varatek with 4 caught no-hitters.

  4. The Brewers were in 1st place for 5 months last year, it takes finishing the season strong too if fans are expected to forget bad times. That's just how the financial side of the game works. Vince Genarro wrote a really good book on it actually.

Fish, top prospects are looked at differently these days. Teams aren't willing to give up 2 top prospects and pay Hamels. This the same as it was back in the 2000's and 90's. Teams like the Cubs, Pirates, Rays, Brewers, A's and others are not going to give up their future for Hamels. The Dodgers won't even give their top prospects. I don't know what Philly is looking for in return for Hamels. He's a good pitcher, top of the rotation starter, but he's 31 and good prospects have their whole career ahead of them. It just doesn't work the way it used too, as looking at other teams build up their minor league system and then become a contender. Thats how teams are doing it nowadays and the success of those teams works......

Craig Biggio is one of four players in MLB history with at least 2,500 hits, 250 home runs and 400 stolen bases.

on his plaque it says he's the first with 3000 hits, 250 hrs and 400 sbs too. amazing.

igloo--that's their choice. only 1 team can win the world series. what will the difference be for that team winning. kc is close on getting cueto, so they needed someone to help them. hamels can help a lot of teams, but at what price?? what is more important - winning a world series or hoping 2-3 prospects work out? seems like a no brainer to me - win the freaking world series!

i said it before, these teams call the phils and first thing they say is "oh not player x, y and z." well you don't get hamels then. this isn't christmas. philly won't give him away like they gave away hunter pence!

    no tickey, no laundry.

if you want to win you gamble on total suspect prospects for a proven ace. if not, keep these unknown kids as SEE if they PAN-OUT.

mut-true winning baseball brings in the fans and it did in philly. thankfully they got better and better before 2007-08. and seats were inexpensive so it was easy to attend.

many moons ago...the phils had curt schilling, bobby abreau and scott rolen. they all wanted out of philly and they all hated larry bowa as coach. the phils traded them all and got nothing for them. they got garbage A and AA prospects and players for them. Schilling would go on to win 3 World Series titles. Rolen would win 1 and I think another Gold Glove or 2 and Abreau was solid. These players could've rebuilt the Phillies franchise. They didn't bc their GM Ed Wade was an ass.

The Phils give up the farm and rebuilt Houston's farm system to acquire Hunter Pence, a .280 20 hr 85 rbi and 20 steal guy. Houston's GM...Ed Wade! A year later they trade him away to SF for nothing and Houston is sitting pretty right now. Pence has won 2 WS rings.

My point is the Phils have ruined their own team with bad trades. Hamels cannot be one of them! If a team doesn't wanna part with stud players then move on past them. Someone will make the right deal for Hamels like it or not.

Thats kind of what the Pirates used to do. Except they did it on purpose to have a low payroll for 21 years. When McCutchen got there, things started changing (one of their prized minor leaguers).......

There is a sign up in Chicago by fans that says : "Trade for Hamels"......Of course, GMs are not supposed to listen too fans, right.......

Another perspective is today on cBS there is a headline that says, "The Yankees will not trade their top minor leaguers for Hamels"......And again of course, the Yankees are in a better position than the teams behind them......

i saw the sign igloo and the Yankees. the sign is funny. the Yankees will not get Hamels. it's really between LA and Texas. If either was smart, they would add 1 top guy and then mid-level AA guys and it's a done deal. They, the Phils, need 1 top guy from each or no dice.

Crazy. I wonder what we gave up. We went to improve the holes in our power. Wonder if we still go pitcher.

  16. Cat, don't you wish the Phils hadn't given up those prospects now? Did Pence lead to a World Series win? It's not as simple as trade for the guy and get a ring, that's Bryce Harper logic.

Apparently they were waiting for the Rookies game to finish and then Tulo went straight into the office. Why he didn't sit I dunno. Maybe it was never imminent until last moment. If this is all true.

  18. If the Rockies got close to what they wanted STL to give 2 or 3 years ago then there's nothing left to trade for a pitcher. My guess is they didn't get close to that (they wanted Carlos Martinez, Oscar Taveras, and more)

  19. They did pull Tulo in the middle of the 9th.
