the prospects weren't that good, but is kazmir enough to put them over the hump to win the ws? i don't think he is over hamels, price and cueto. now i know the price is higher for those 3, so hopefully it works for them. i just don't think kazmir is the answer come october.
bourn had 1 ok year and took cleveland to the house on a big contract. revere makes next to nothing and is way better than bourne.
I don't think they need to win the WS to make it easily worth it. The Astros attendance is way down from where it was 10 years ago. If this gets them into the playoffs the revenues from the playoff game(s) they host as well as the additional fan interest it will create will have a positive affect on next years attendance. That makes it worth it in a pure dollars view. If it gets them into the playoffs it will make the young team believe in themselves, belief is a dangerous thing, just look at the Royals. I think Kazmir will stay long term, he is from Houston after all, and if he pitches there for 5 years it'll certainly be a great deal.
They mentioned Kazmir's stats in his last 8 or 10 games last night and he hasn't allowed over 3 runs in any start except 1 game. So he's a good pitcher, we just don't get to see much of the West or the A.L. The Bucs will gladly take him on their team. They are going to have to replace Burnett after this year so the Bucs should have some good money to replace him. A. Ramirez is supposed to start at 3rd tomorrow night (Saturday). Kang is hotter than a pistol playing at short. Last 3 games: 3 hits, 2 hits and 2 doubles last night. Kang reminds me Wong. Can hit for average with power now and again, good defensively with a rifle arm and decent speed.
this is why i hate fare weathered fan bases. their team is 1 game out of first place. why don't their fans show up after being in the basement for so long? makes no sense. once the phils started to even win 75-80 games the fans came. they clinch the NL East in 07 and were sold out for 5 straight years, breaking attendance records. i don't get houston at all. this is the time to see your team! they're winning for once.
to me 3 months is enough to go to a damn game to see the future of the team and possibly a playoff team. i've been to the stadium too. it's nice there. why not go?
One out to go with Fowler striking out. Kris Bryant is all that stands between Hamels and a no-hitter.
