mut- i agree with half of it. to me he must be moved now bf he gets hurt like lee did. something happens to him now as the phils are dead in the water. the gm-andy macphail thing is real. however call 20 teams and start the ball rolling. get 1 or 2 prospects and move on. all of baseball has already said papelbon should've been traded weeks ago.

 

But why pay Hamels that when you're trying to develop your own talent. The Cardinals are paying their 2 all-star SP's just over a million combined. And they're under contract for 4 more seasons, hitting free agency at 28 so they'll still have the option to sign them even longer, in a deal where you give up no future prospects. Sure Hamels deal isn't bad for the team, but the question is the price to buying the contract. You're willing to pay less for a contract that you have to continue paying for, that's why home grown talent is so successful.

 

They can't just be prospects though they need to be the right prospects.

fernandez is obviously upset over the pitch and it got away from him. the ump warned the dbacks and then what happens? he hits him anyways. total bullshit.

will,. look at how fernandez reacted. he was upset and went to the player. he showed remorse unlike other pitchers. that's my point. he was sorry. the ump feeling this could get ugly warned the dbacks and they play hard ball and don't listen. gibson is the manager! his job to control his team. he didn't.

if fernandez doesn't show his reaction, it's different. he did and he was sorry it happened. why bean a marlin? justification so two wrongs make a right? no.

this isn't the first time a gibson led team has been involved in this kind of stuff.

and if you want to condone beaning players, that's on you. you can tell the pitch got away from fernandez and it was not intentional.

I think there is a difference between condoning and excepting a fact. I dont condone beaning in baseball as i dont condone violence in any sport for that matter... i do consider it a part of the game whether i agree with it or not.

It was probably an accident by Fernandez... Im also claiming it was an accident that the D-backs cleared the bench.

no. the prospect is baez who was called up last year and has done zilch. they don't need infielders. they got a ton already and a ss of the future so they don't need castro. they need outfielders, a catcher and pitching.

it's a fair deal if they needed players in those spots. castro is hit or miss. he had huge potential at 1 pt in his career.

 

scott kazmir gets traded to houston for 2 prospects...

 

Gerat move for the Astros in my opinion. I think they feel like they have a great chance of retaining him as well as the feeling that those 2 prospects are over rated. Seeing as Kazmir was gone after this year anyway this could be a deal in which both teams win.
