Carlos Martinez just turned in his 9th consecutive quality start. Stan Musial was never ejected from a game, truly amazing.
The Yadi vs Posey debate is raging on twitter. I real don't have a side because they'll be be on the Hall of Fame, but there is a point that I hadn't considered before. Yadi has caught 633 innings this year. Posey has caught just 460. There is value to neon the guy at the position as opposed to playing a lot of 1B.

why is the voting closed already? i thought the game was this tuesday. it's next week... i thought the voting ending the last sunday before the as game. it's a week away.
Is Molina better than Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez? They are both great defensively. So it would come down to offense and I just looked up Pudge's stats. Pudge has it over Molina offensively, even though Molina kills the Pirates, so does Jay and Carpenter.

What the???? Pudge had a better batting average also. Almost in the .300's........I wasn't sure if he was in yet or not. But I think he should be. What's funny is they seem to be passing him up and putting in some players that have retired later?

Pudge will get in, he's just not eligable. I'm going to compare the guys who to me are the 3 best defensive catchers of the last 50 years. Johnny Bench caught 43% of base stealers in his career bs a league average in those years of 35%. Pudge caught 46% vs a league average of 31%, and Yadi has caught 45% vs a league average of 28%. To me this means Bench controlled the running game the worst of the 3. Where Yadi really stands out however is the frequency of steals against. Bench allowed a SB once every 23.8 innings behind the plate, Pudge every 26.0 innings, and Yadi has allowed a SB once every 34.6 innings caught. No one has ever controlled the running game as well as Yadi does it. Also, he's a career .284 hitter so it's not like he's a negative offensive player. Pudge played most of his career in the years when offense was rampant so those comparisons need to be looked at against league averages an not just straight against each other. The man has won the last 7 gold gloves and I'll bet he's got a few more in him. I'll put together more on whys he's a sure fire Hall of Famer later this week when I have my internet set up, soon this on my phone is a pain.
Btw since 2009 (as far back as the site went) the Cardinals have never ranked worse than 2nd in SB allowed as a team and have been #1 each of the last 3 years.
to me his offensive stats hurt him. he's down on hrs, hits and rbis over bench and pudge. but when he retires, he may have the votes to get in. he certainly has had a great career.
yahoo.com sports says kershaw not being voted to the AS game is what's wrong with the AS voting process. How can the reigning MVP and Cy Young not be automatically on the team and be subjected to the final 5 vote. Kershaw has not been Kershaw but still had a great first half. I kind of agree with Yahoo.com sports as the voting is way out of hand.
