As i said earlier this season, Joe Flacco's time as a Raven is nearing the end. Benching him when he is healthy is the biggest sign to date that he will not survive the offseason. The Ravens are Lamar's team now and for the foreseeable future and I am excited to see him develop.
Building an offense around a QB is a hilarious thing in Baltimore. When watching the 58 minutes of the Chiefs game and foolishly expecting the victory, I thought to myself that with Jackson winning, there was no possible way he wouldn't be the starter going forward. I think by losing and having some questions about moving down the field fast in crunch time that it opened up some doors for speculation, but the overall right call is to keep letting Jackson start.
Starting Jackson is the right move for Harbaugh to make, regardless of the eventual outcome. Everyone on God's green earth who follows the Ravens will tell you that they all thought this would be Flacco's last year in Baltimore. I also am of the opinion that most people had accepted the inevitability of Harbaugh not coaching the Ravens in 2019. Harbaugh playing Jackson is one avenue he has to show he should remain the coach of this team. The Front office drafted Jackson and now Harbaugh has to show he can develop him and win with him. If he does, and should the Ravens make the playoffs or more, then Bisciotti has a difficult decision to make.
Lamarr Jackson may have saved Harbaugh's job. Remember mid-year when it was looking likely he might get fired after this year. Not so much now huh?
I'm excited to see a team winning by pounding the rock and throwing here and there. It's a fun throw back look to the team's I used to love from the past.
An announcer on the game today said that Griffin has emphasized to Lamarr to use his unique athletic abilities but also is telling / coaching Lamarr to avoid hits whenever possible (probably so he doesn't end up like Griffin did)
