Jaguars @ Patriots Official Game Thread - Championship Round Week

Since I can't do a Steelers @ Patriots Official Game Thread - Championship Round Week, I figured that I would do this instead. Hopefully after today, the Steelers will be guaranteed to the only 6x winner in the Super Bowl era.

In Week 19, the Jaguars (unfortunately) defeated the Steelers at Heinz Field. Now the Jaguars travel to Gillette Stadium to play the Patriots.

    For the Jaguars to win:
The Jaguars need to play a complete game. (A 60 minute and OT if necessary effort covering all three phases of the game: offense, defense, and special teams.)
The Jaguars need to run the ball effectively.
The Jaguars defense needs to pressure Tom Brady up the middle of the defense.
The Jaguars defense needs to stop the Patriots run.
The Jaguars need to protect the ball. They need to win the turnover battle.
The Jaguars need to avoid letting New England get out to a (big) lead.
The Jaguars need to remember that this is the playoffs - win or go home.
Blake Bortles needs to play smart. He doesn't need to carry the team, he needs to do that with which he is asked.

The last time the Patriots lost an AFC Championship game, the Broncos applied much pressure on Tom Brady. Saxsonville needs to do the same thing.

    Go Jags!

I still can’t believe our beloved Super Steelers aren’t playing in this game today, thanks Tubby

Good game so far. Brady is like clockwork. Doesn't turn ball over. Pats playing defense (unlike our beloved team last week). For some reason I find myself rooting for Satan's Cobra Kai. If you can't beat them, join them? I guess I appreciate their discipline. The way the Jaguars shoot off their mouths, I'd like to see them lose, I think.

Hated the last offensive play call. Thought the punt was shit. Now running down our throat.

If the Jaguars somehow win, then go on to win superbowl it will prove 3 things to me:

    1) defense and running game can still win championships

    2) blake bortles is not as bad as many people think - i have been saying that since i picked him as my top qb in that draft ....

    3) the jags will be a very deserving team having beaten steelers and pats on the road and best team in nfc in super bowl

Great play design on that td pass

Have to say, i am kind of tickled to see Bortles doing so well .... i have been one of the only people in his corner all year .... he reminds me of a young big ben , gets no credit and is having a great year

If the Jaguars beat the Patriots soundly today, does that change our perception of last weeks game?

NE offense will not score close to what our beloved Super team scored last week against that defense hence if NE defense gives up more than 20 points, Jaguars will win

Been a Bortles guy since his draft class. I've been proven wrong this far. Especially in 2016. He may make amends this year.

It should. Tomlin still stinks though.

Just look at his regular season stats this year - 85 qb rating , wouldve been higher but drops (doesnt have good receivers), 21 tds , 13 picks

Man, that is good considering crap receivers

    In 2015 with better receivers...
    qb ranking: 88 , TDs 35 , picks 18

I was discussing the Jags and Bortles with one of your fellow fans for the last month. I don't think he's as bad as many here said. And even if he is, with that defense and running game, he can definitely play well, especially off play action.

Also a lot of people here last week said they truly believe only the Steelers could beat New England. Comebacks happen, especially with Brady, but I wonder if those posters still feel as if Jacksonville has no chance. It's early but they've been the better team thus far

Man a great run game helps so much

And for some reason Bell/our line although very good , they do not seem to come up with those kinds of runs on 3rd and 4th and short enough to my liking .... another reason to let Bell walk along with his attitude, lack of discipline and respect of the team rules, lack of game breaking speed etc. I have come full circle on this one: let him walk

    Jags 14
    Pats 3
