I don't know whether this is a conditioning issue, bad luck, or what, but this continued string of injuries (to key players) over the past few years is just flippin' ridiculous. Sean Lee, Justin Durant, DeMarcus Ware, DeMarco Murray, Anthony Spencer, Jay Ratliff, Jason Hatcher, Anthony Spencer, Brian Waters, Mo Claiborne, Miles Austin...unbelievable. They're opening day defense was supposed to look like this: DE: DeMarcus Ware (missed 3 games) DT: Jason Hatcher (missed last night) DT: Jay Ratliff (never played a snap with the team in 2013) DE: Anthony Spencer (never played a snap with the team in 2013) LB: Justin Durant (left last night with a hamstring injury) LB: Sean Lee (left last night with a hamstring injury, thought to be serious) LB: Bruce Carter SS: Barry Church FS; JJ Wilcox (missed two weeks with a sprained MCL) CB: Brandon Carr CB: Mo Claiborne (missed two weeks with a shoulder injury) Only 3 of the 11 have made it through relatively unscathed. I also saw a graphic last night that said we've started 13 different defensive linemen; no other team in the league has started more than 7.
This is the same defense that got hurt last year....they are killing this team again!!...really sucks to cuz this defense was playing lights out at the first of the year..not good..now Sean gone for a month...Demarcus still not right...no way we get healthy enough for play-off run and it just sucks!!
I don't know WAHT to make of it, but it's been three years in a row now where our defense has just gotten eviscerated by injuries.
