My first time down there. I’m looking for some suggestions on live music bars and some restaurants. I’d like to avoid the places with frozen drinks in plastic tubes and douchebags. Someone told me Maple Leaf is a good place. Suggestions?
Answer me you bums! I know some of you booze-addled rabble have been down there! Suggestions damn you!
Wish I could help, man. Never spent any time there, unfortunately. I'd just tell you to be careful - I've heard too many stories from friends about being pick-pocketed or scammed. As always, I'm sure it has a lot to do with exactly where you are.
Stay off Bourbon street if you want to avoid douchebaggery. Go to Bourbon street if you want to get laid. Good bars......Sainte Marie, Crown and Anchor, Half Moon, Parasol's, and Capdeville. Great food.....Cochon Butcher, Doris Metropolitan, GW Fins, The Joint, Brennan's, Atomic Burger, and Del Fuego Taqueria.
@Bear-man 11 how did you like N'Orleans? I was there a thousand years ago and loved it! Best place I spent time at was Pat O'Briens and I took my hurricane glass home with me!
That must of been a long trip from Cuba in the raft, you know Florida would of been much closer, right?
I'm renowned for being geographically obtuse tuna. One day the old man and I were sitting on his bike at an intersection. I said, "Wow, look at this intersection, it's brand new and beautiful!!" He says, "You do realize that you drive through here every Friday on your way to Tai Chi class, right?". I had NO idea that's where I was. And you expect me to find Florida? C'mon brothah ... it's not gonna happen. And I'm not from Cuba, I'm from Mexico. <looks at the above and goes white in the face>
Sorry I keep forgetting Cubans are Mexicans with rafts, and Mexicans just have Corona's. I'm pleased however that you finally came around and embraced your heritage. I love Taco's!
I tried to stay away from Bourbon St as much as I could but did spend some time there and hated it for the most part. Found a couple decent bars there, but it’s mostly 23 year old douchebags, shitty beer, and stupid music and food that has nothing to do with NOLA. I liked the Frenchmen St area best. GREAT live music, much better beer selection and an older, less douchey crowd. The game was a little rough. In my younger, dumber days I may have gotten into a scuffle. Front-running big mouth fans that only decided to talk shit once they were ahead by a couple of scores. Stadium is pretty much still a dump I thought. Crazy town, good time, glad to have made it back alive.
