You will make roster cuts on the designated date (sometime after week 3 of the preseason). Every draft thereafter will consist of 8 draft picks. Your number of picks will be set at 8 though you may trade picks for picks, picks for players or picks for players and picks. Prior to the draft your max roster availability is 22. At the end of the draft your max roster availability is 30. If you make trades prior to the draft that will push your roster over the 30 player max you have until the Thursday following the draft to cut players from your roster to bring your franchise within the 30 player limit. If you have less than 30 you may sign free agents to bring you up to 30 or you may continue on with less than 30. You have until the designated date after the third week of the preseason to make roster cuts to bring your roster down to 22. The draft goes from worst to first (does not snake) and the previous seasons standings are set as follows - Non-playoff teams are all in the top half of the round (1-6) and are based upon record followed by points. Playoff teams are all in the bottom half of the round (7-12) and based upon elimination followed by record followed by points. All available free agents including the most recent draft class are eligible to be drafted. Trading, Free Agency and Waiver Wire Add/Drop Deadline End of season/Week 16 Trading Deadline Week 14 The Waiver Wire works in reverse order of the current standings. It is a 2 day waiver wire. Trades are to be approved by the commissioners. Courtesy trading and bye week help in the form of two teams making a transaction at one point in the year then returning those players at another point is not allowed.
In Order to make Team Defenses/special teams more relevant could we consider giving points to them for score allowed and or yards allowed.
If we decided to go that route I would prefer to do away with them altogether. I've been in leagues like that before and it's not a good situation for an IDP. You can have an LB go off with an INT returned for a TD but your opponent has that D/SPTs so it nullifies a great individual effort.
Why the linebacker would get the 6 points for the TD plus points for the interception and in that example the team gets nothing. Why would you not reward a team for holding an opponent to 6 points or a shut out. Even if a linebacker has 12 tackles 3 sacks a interception for a TD holding a team to zero points would be a team effort. Both the team would earn points and the LB.
The D/SPTs is meant to be SPTs only. This way, you can get special teams points for returns, blocks and so on without placing those values on individual players (which skews the player pool). With what we are discussing - you have a linebacker that does well increasing the point total for the team you're playing against. It makes no sense to have it that way.
I guess so I still dont see it that way but hey whatever in that case Im for just getting rid of Special teams outside of one or two teams they are worthless the way we have them set up IMHO.
This is similar to the discussion we had in the dynasty league. If you had the Chiefs SPTs last season they paid off pretty solid, but for the most part it's just an opportunity to flip a close game on a special teams play. If we do away with the special teams then it changes the weight on certain players. With such a limited number of fantasy starters that return kicks on a regular basis it changes the player pool to a degree. If everyone opted to go with the individual players getting the SPTs points this season I would get behind that in this league. We would eliminate the D/SPT position and switch to that format.
Something that was suggested previously that I think we should adopt for this season is a flex position on both offense and defense. Normal style - Offensive Flex: RB/WR/TE Defensive Flex: DL/LB/DB We would not expand the roster. Thoughts?
I'm in for the flex options. Kill the defense and just give the players special teams scores. I like having certain players get that extra point. They should get return yardage too.
Joe, Will, Rediiis and Jeanquev checked in. I need to make a role call for everyone else involved for 2017. [notify]IrishDawg42[/notify] [notify]beachbum[/notify] [notify]HaroldSeattle[/notify] [notify]Falcons Guy[/notify] [notify]Underdog[/notify] [notify]KTSHEA92[/notify] We need to work on the rules book, draft date and appoint two co-commissioners.
Being new, I will accept any rules changes, I don't have enough experience in this particular league to have an opinion. I will adapt to whichever rules you all choose.
The changes we are looking at for 2017 - Flex position on offense and defense[/*] Eliminate the D/SPTs position[/*] Award SPTs points to individual players[/*]
I'm in for this season, and I dig those three rule change proposals. While I can appreciate the uniqueness of the "turn a game on a key ST play" idea, it's really not worth the hassle of managing the roster spot for such a minimal return.
