Who is your favorite movie character where the actor/actress did such a fine job that you love to hate that character. I have two. The prison warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton) in The Shawshank Redemption. What a jerk. And the winner is ,,,,,,, Louise Fletcher. Nurse Rached in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Hand's down. World class bitch !!!!!
Don Logan (Ben Kingsley) in Sexy Beast. Pure psychopath - absolutely terrifying...and riveting. Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) in The Talented Mr. Ripley.
With Gruber already listed ill not add him to mine but Rickman does make another appearance Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and *Drumroll* Gary Busy- Joshua Lethal Weapon
Ripley is like the boy next door until he has to act. he probably didn't kill anyone before the events in Europe happened. he only killed Dickie as he was being mocked and slapped around by him. he killed Freddy Miles bc Freddy was onto him. he was truly a killer you would never think of as a killer until you're dead.
my top 5 and I don't hate them at all. they were brilliant in portraying the bad guy - 1-Hannibal Lecter 2-Keyser Soze 3-Darth Vader 4-Joe Doe-from the movie Se7en 5-Sgt. Barnes-Tom Beringer - Platoon
Hannibal Lecter was the first one that popped into my head when I saw the thread title. A lot of other great mentions...can't argue against any of them, really.
now the biggest jerks in movies i hated -- 1-Mutsuhiro "The Bird" Watanabe the Prisoner of War camp warden from the movie Unbroken. The guy is pure evil. 2-Galt-the asshole cop from First Blood who torments Rambo for no reason. Rambo has the last laugh on him. 3-Burt Gordon-George C. Scott - the Hustler. Newman should've killed him. 4-Larry the Mayor and Len Peterson from Jaws and Jaws II. Don't close the beaches because you will lose money. Nah. Let them open and let people die. I wish the shark ate both of them. 5-Martin Kove -Kreese from the Karate Kid. the guy just scared me as a kid.
I think Kylo Ren in the new Star Wars films is a terrifically written and portrayed bad guy. He's not a refined, "rule the world" bad guy - he's an impetuous, rage-filled kid, and it's a fantastic character. I watch way more TV than I do movies, so can't really contribute to the exact topic. I thought Andrew Scott's Moriarty in the new Sherlock series was phenomenal.
yeah the Bird was really bad. in real life he wouldn't even meet with the real guy on a peace tour years after the war was over. that says a lot.
I have another “Frank” bad guy... the henchman that Henry Fonda played in Leone’s Once Upon A Time In The West. The man shot a little kid in the face.
