Ducky has been named the starter after poor performances from Rudolph, per CBS. Not as high on Duck as most Steelers fans, but at least he’ll push the ball down the field some. It’ll likely lead to more boom or bust plays, but Washington and Johnson have made some pretty good plays when given the chance so hopefully the good outweighs the bad come Sunday.
I'm not sure this is the best move in the long term. If Rudolph is your long term guy, I think he has to take some lumps. Has he lost confidence? Is he hurt? If the answer is no then I think you let him work it out. The Steelers really aren't going anywhere. The AFC is a 2 horse race so why not see what they have at QB. In a way, I wish they were 3-8 or something like that. Then the pressure would be off and Rudolph could toil in anonymity and the coaches could evaluate film and see what they've got. Being 6-5 is a curse because they feel compelled to get any wins they can but in the end it's for nothing. Any team battling for the 6 seed is fodder including the Browns. Start Rudolph until he can't start anymore. Ben will be back next year. We have to know what we've got.
Actually with our defense, it we can just get closer to average offensive play we would be a dangerous team in the post season
No, I really don't. Rudolph was an excellent QB in college and despite some growing pains, I think his ceiling is higher than Dobbs. If the Steelers start shuffling guys every time they struggle on their development, they'll end up with the QB situation like the Bears have or the Browns had. Imagine if they gave up on Mayfield after being 2-6. Gotta give due diligence and see what they've got
Beloved Dirk Once you go into evaluation mode ur team will finish with a losing record. Tomlin has done a masterful job with a team that has had an offense with 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers at the skilled positions most of the year. Most teams would have collapsed. I like the week-to-week adjustments and the fight to make the playoffs even though it may lead to a one and done. As for going with Duck (quack) I like the move even if it turns into a disaster, u simply can’t go with Rudolph after his performances the last 2 games. Tomlin will get blasted if Duck is terrible and they lose and will get no credit if Duck is serviceable and gets them a win against beloved Saint Lymans Browns. Thank you Let’s go Steelers
Gotcha. I thought I remembered that some people were high on Dobbs. I think Beachbum was one of them, but I can't say for sure
Ask again after Sunday... I was one of Dobbs bigger fans here, and the reason I’m glad that Dobbs was traded is because that draft pick was used in the Minkah trade and I would absolutely rather have Minkah over Dobbs. If you are asking who would I rather have Sunday, Dobbs or Duck with the current state of the team, I would honestly say Dobbs because his mobility is just something else to plan for. People say Dobbs is inaccurate but it’s not like Duck has been the pillar of accuracy himself...
Speaking of duck hunting, if that is doing so much good for the connection between Hodges and Washington then everyone else on the offense and Fincter and Tomlin need to go duck hunting with them too. If they do we could end the season on a 10 game winning streak.
