    RULES FOR DRAFT VALUE CHALLENGE

    IMPORTANT
    PLEASE PM ENTRIES TO @LAOJoe WITH THE CHALLENGE IN THE TITLE. YOU HAVE UNTIL ONE HOUR BEFORE THE DRAFT TO SUBMIT YOUR PICKS.
    We use the results of LAOJoe And RTTRUTH's 9th Annual Mock as the starting point. The entire mock is here: https://live4sportnetwork.com/forum/threads/laojoe-rttruths-9th-annual-official-mock-draft.13583/

    We each choose players we think would be taken earlier, later or around the same spot in the real draft compared to our "official" mock. You get points depending on what happens.

    We each pick 2 players per round who we think will get drafted higher and 2 we think would get drafted lower. We also choose 1 guy per round we think is closest to their exact spot.
    We also predict 2 UDFAs who were picked that would actually get drafted and 2 guys entirely not selected. EXAMPLE of Picks at the bottom. The nature of the scoring could see the winner emerge with a negative score.

    The extreme values are almost impossible to get but they can make or break you.
    A full round means the same spot or greater in the next/previous round and NOT necessarily 32 picks.

    Risers/Fallers
    >6-7 Full Rounds= 60 points Faller/70 Riser
    >5-6 Full Rounds= 50 points Faller/60 Riser
    >4-5 Full Rounds= 40 points Faller/50 Riser
    >3-4 Full Rounds= 30 points Faller/40 Riser
    >2-3 Full Rounds= 20 points Faller/30 Riser
    >1- 2 Full Rounds= 10 points Faller/20 Riser
    17-Full Round= 8 points Faller/10 Riser
    11-16= 6 points
    6-10= 3 points
    1-5= 1 point
    0=0 points
    If your faller pick is actually a riser you:
    lose 5 points +1 points for every spot.
    Maximum of -40 points.

    If your riser pick is actually a faller you:
    lose 5 points +1 point for every spot.
    If he goes undrafted you lose an extra 10.
    Maximum of -40 points; -45 if undrafted.

    Extra Rule: Mispicking an undrafted player from this mock to be drafted will give you -15.
    Extra Rule: Correctly picking an undrafted player from this mock to be drafted gives you 10 points per round.

    Closest to actual pick
    margin of error:
    0= 50 points (35 points in Round 1)
    +/-1= 30 Points (25 points in Round 1, 35 points in Rounds 4+)
    +/-2= 20 points (25 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-3= 15 points (20 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-4= 10 points (15 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-5= 7 points (12 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-6= 5 points (10 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-7= 3 points (9 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-8= 1 points (8 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-9= 0points (7 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-10= -1 points (6 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-11= -2 points (5 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-12= -3 points (4 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-13= -4 points (3 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-14= -5 points (2 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-15= -6 points (1 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-16= -7 points (0 points Rounds 4+)
    +/-(17-one full round)= -10 points
    +/-Between >1-2 full rounds= -15 points
    +/->2-3 full rounds= -25 points
    +/->3+ full rounds= -35 points
    1st-3rd Round undrafted = -50 points
    4th Round undrafted= -40 points
    5th round undrafted= -30 points
    6th round undrafted= -20 points
    7th round undrafted= -10 points
    ALSO in the 7th round you can only lose a maximum of 10 points if your guy is drafted AFTER his prediction. You can still lose more if he gets drafted earlier.
    EXTRA: A correctly undrafted guy gives you 20 points. If you guess wrong you lose 20 points.
    EXTRA: YOU CANNOT PICK ONE OF THE FIRST 7 PLAYERS DRAFTED FOR THE EXACT SPOT!!!

    This this thing can twist your mind into a pretzel if you let it...I remember last year I just over-thought on a few choices, and then made like 3 last minute switches that ALL wound up hurting my score...lol! I finished a distant second though, and I'm not sure it would have mattered. If I remember right, Quew had an unbelievable score last year in the "exact pick" round, and that's what won it...

    You were all like "I got this in the bag" and we were all like "lol, look at Quew".

    lol! I know! Shit I thought I had it...I could not believe how accurate Quew was in getting the exact pick right.

    I had just finished round 4 when I hit the wrong button and everything disappeared. I really need a beer now. Back to pen and paper kid.

    :up:It's the only way to go...I still track my fantasy drafts "old school style" with pen and paper. It just works for me. Somehow, writing things on paper gives me a clearer picture...

    It's funny assessing my handwritten notes at our main fantasy draft, where the beer and booze is always in abundant supply. The first few rounds are always nice, neat and legible. Then it gets a little shaky in the mid rounds, with some x-outs, and players written in the wrong place. And then often by the last couple rounds it's just a mess. I always have to take our sticker board with me to input all that data on our fantasy league site, because my own tracking of the draft leaves much to be desired in those last couple rounds. lol! But it's fun...The main thing that writing things down helps with is memory. I'm never that guy that is always calling out names of players that were selected 2 rounds earlier. So that's a good thing...

    Our fantasy draft weekend is recognized as an official 'Dad Holiday' so I can be completely free of responsibility.

    We drink some beer, and then we drink some more, before we drink some more, and usually after we drink some more.
    :SEP::SEP::SEP::SEP:

    I tried to draft Delanie Walker in the 12th round of our 2016 mock and he was already taken. I tried again in the 15th, 16th and 17th...

    lol! It's been a tradition in my league for certain players to always end up on a certain team. It's funny how we start fresh with no holdover players, yet everyone has their tendencies that we've all come to expect....We got one guy that in 29 years has been the last to show up every single time. We got a guy that ALWAYS takes a defense WAY too early. Every freakin year! We got a Tom Brady guy. We got a Justin Tucker guy. We got a guy that always has 2 QB's by the time the 6th round rolls around (< everyone hates that guy). We got a guy that takes all the Bucs. We got a guy that takes all the Browns. Yes, it's me. Though the last couple years, that honestly just means I got Duke Johnson. smh...Gotta love fantasy draft day. It is like a holiday...

    Cheers to that Tim!!

    We go every Labor day weekend. I have my local draft on Saturday and my money draft on Sunday. The wives on both days have activities that they always go do...and my wife, God Bless Her, is always there to pick me up when we are done on Sunday (thankfully I host the Saturday draft every year). We go to the Winking Lizard in Avon for my money draft, we went to Fat Head's 3 years ago and it just wasn't the same. I don't know what we'll do if they ever close, they built a new location about 4 years ago, so I think we'll be ok for awhile.

    Our first 5 years or so was at a couple different Bar/Restaurants (Damon's and Casa Lupita, here in Newark), but since mid 90's we've had it on lockdown at a friends' place. He's really got the ultimate set up, and we've just never had reason to change. Every year, the Sunday before Labor Day weekend is about my favorite day of the year. I truly do treasure it....

    Haha, well we were actually just the opposite, it started out that we would always do it at my Brother in Law's, but about 12-13 years ago one of the other guys came to the draft party on his motorcycle and, I can't make this shit up, he was wearing chaps. So, by the end of the night, one of the other guys ended up sneaking to the bathroom to put on the "ass-less chaps" and was running around the house chasing my sister in law (he wasn't wearing anything underneath them)...that was the last time we held a draft party at a house in that league.

    We had a guy that drafted (via phone) from his hospital bed when he had a plus 102 degree temperature...lol!

    Whatever it takes! At first he was just on the phone from his house. But then it moved to the ER(at his wife's insistence). Dude was asking us to recite the last 16 picks, and we could literally hear the nurses in the background demanding that he put his phone away. lol!
