The Bears have attempted a grand total of 7 passes this year......the fewest in the NFL. League average is 17.4
And remember, kids, we pull that average down. Glennon is currently being paid over $2 million per downfield pass attempt, this year. Sure, we're only three games in, but we're also not even talking about completions. Way to go, Pace. This is the offense that gets things done.
Mark PotashVerified account @MarkPotash Fun Fact: #Bears are the first team since the 2008 Browns w/out a pass play of 25 yards or more in its first 3 games. Long play is 22 yards. Adam HogeVerified account @AdamHoge 22h22 hours ago I just charted Mike Glennon’s 15 completions from yesterday. Only one of them traveled more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. Adam HogeVerified account @AdamHoge Glennon officially got credit for 101 passing yards, but his completions only traveled a TOTAL of 19 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. AND THIS GEM: Adam HogeVerified account @AdamHoge 22h22 hours ago Six of Glennon’s 15 completions were BEHIND the line of scrimmage. Another three were AT the line of scrimmage.
Holy smokes mainwolf. When you see it like that it's even more embarrassing and shameful. What coach could possibly ignore those stats?
According to Fox and Loggains....Glennon is doing everything necessary to win games. I thought getting first downs and completing passes won games. But no. Apparently.....avoiding throwing past the sticks, throwing the ball to the other team, throwing the ball into the dirt......that's how you win games.
Good grief. Don't they listen to their fans at all? Everywhere I look everyone is saying the same thing ... to put Trub out to play. It's like they're being willfully blind just to keep their egos stroked.
I don't want them to listen to their fans. Fans tend to be dumb as a whole. I want them to see what is happening on the field and realize it has to be better. That's a coaches job.
You're right, B-Dub. But I'll agree with Baby in that even the Facespace comments all read, "Glennon is garbage, put Trubisky on the field". And they mention his obvious deficiencies, such as checking down, throwing away from open receivers, etc. When the fans on Facespace are talking sense, you know it's obvious. The fact that Glennon is still playing, and being defended by the staff, is beyond comprehension.
Totally agree. I just mean a coach shouldn't make a move because fans said so. He should do it because he gets paid to make the right decisions to make the team better.
The only thing I think can be true is that Fox has been told by team brass that Trubisky isn't to play unless an injury to Glennon forces him to. And those are his marching orders. I can't believe he watches game film, practice, or stands on the sideline during actual games and believes Glennon is giving him the best possible chance to win. He can't be that dumb.
I agree. Fox isn't the boss. No one is out of touch with reality enough to think that Glennon is doing a good job. So, his boss(es) have to be dictating that Glennon stays. I outlined the options before, but essentially, there's not a way that Pace doesn't look bad, here. Letting Glennon play a little longer is probably the best case scenario for him - there has to be some justification of the 3-year, $15 mil per year deal he was given.
Oh… and it gets more stunning: Glennon’s average third-down throw is 3.1 yards short of the first-down marker! Worst in the league. Is that on Loggains who’d rather punt then suffer a certain INT? What a fun way to play the field position game. BWW: The only thing I think can be true is that Fox has been told by team brass that Trubisky isn't to play unless an injury to Glennon forces him to. My thoughts exactly. And it worries me that this can demoralize the locker room. These players aren’t stupid and can see what a POS they’re playing for. So I guess the plan is to play Glennon until and if he’s injured. Sanchez isn’t even dressing game day. Lot’s of folks thinking Trubisky may start against Vikings with 10 days of prep. I’m thinking he may get the nod against New Orleans at best, unless of course Bears manage to keep winning a few with the O-line and running game. I guess the bosses may think that will make Glennon valuable at the end of the season. Unfortunately the other 31 teams will realize he’s just a pig with lipstick. (My apologies to pigs).
They aren't necessarily lying, turning around and handing the ball to Cohen and Howard is doing what is necessary for them to win games. Unfortunately he is not even good at that because he really struggles to get them the ball on stretch plays, one time flat out not getting there. He is garbage and if Fox and Loggains want to fall on the sword with their boy Glennon, more power to them because I want them both gone anyway. I'm really tired of this coaching staff talking to the fans and media like we are stupid. If you have to coddle him and watch his fragile ego by stroking him in the media, then Glennon is even worse than I thought. He is not the reason the Bears won that game, if anything he was another obstacle they had to overcome to win the game, and that is not doing everything necessary to win games by anyone's definition.
I'm convinced like everyone else, that not even John Fox could be so incompetent as to beleive Glennon truly is giving them the best shot to win games. Honestly, I'm OK with Trubisky not playing IF they feel like by playing him there is a chance for him to develop bad habits in things that he has not fully learned yet. I do believe Trub gives us the best chance to win this year, but IF the football guys in the organization truly believe we could stunt his growth by playing him, than Im ok with him sitting. I typically am in the "play him asap" camp with rookie QBs, believing that really the only way to learn is by playing the games. That said, Trubisky is a truly special case with how raw he is with only 12 college starts. A guy like Deshon Watson, what more is he really going to learn on the bench? Even if he sucks, he should probably know enough to take his lumps and play. Trubisky though is Super raw, and I personally dont know if there is an actual chance he could develop bad habits or not. To a certain extent it makes some sense to me though.
