The league needs to come up with a plan that will be used for all possible cases. If rescheduling then all games missed because one of the teams has a covid outbreak even if it means extending the season a month.
I think the NFL already has a plan, but players have to do their part and a bunch of them arnt... Example, Tennessee and now the Raiders. Per NBC... The news out of Tennessee today should serve as a warning to the rest of the NFL: Playing a season amid a pandemic is not going to be easy. It’s going to be harder if players succumb to protocol fatigue. Enter the Las Vegas Raiders. Raiders players potentially violated NFL and state of Nevada mandates at a public gathering Monday night, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports. Raiders tight end Darren Waller hosted a fundraiser for his foundation, which seeks to equip youth to avoid and overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol. Videos have surfaced of players, including quarterbacks Derek Carr and Nathan Peterman and tight ends Jason Witten and Foster Moreau, without face coverings while mingling at the event. “You don’t like seeing this,” Raiders owner Mark Davis told Bonsignore. “I don’t know that it’s actually been built into our memories that you have to wear a mask.” The city of Henderson was unaware of the event until afterward and is investigating, a city spokeswoman told Bonsignore. It is unclear whether attendees were tested before the event. NFL players are tested daily. But the NFL and the NFLPA agreed to a personal responsibility mandate as part of a revised CBA for 2020. It specifically prohibits players from engaging in certain behaviors this season as part of risk mitigation. Among the restrictions, players are not allowed to attend indoor night clubs with crowds of 10 or more or attend any gathering or event that violates local and/or state restrictions. They also are required to wear face coverings while in public. The league can fine players for violating its personal responsibility rules. The Raiders already have had the league fine them $250,000 and Jon Gruden $100,000 for the coach’s failure to wear a face covering in a game against the Saints. They also reportedly are under investigation for allowing a non-credentialed team employee into their locker room after that Monday night game, potentially violating NFL policy.
Eyes around the NFL have been on the Titans and Vikings in the wake of Tuesday’s news that eight members of the Titans organization tested positive for COVID-19 and the results of further testing on people from both teams came through on Wednesday morning. NFL Media reports that one more Titans player has tested positive. The same report notes that no members of the Vikings organization tested positive. Given incubation times, test results will continue to be closely watched in the coming days and it remains to be seen what the fallout will be for the Week Fourt schedule. The Titans are set to play the Steelers on Sunday, but their facility is closed until Saturday and there’s been some talk of delaying the game to Monday in order to give the Titans more time to prepare once they are up and running again. The Vikings also closed their facility on Tuesday, although it is expected to open before Tennessee’s as long as all is well on the testing front. Wednesday’s news about their testing results may help ease the way toward reopening the doors. NBC
So, forcing the Titans to play on Sunday (or Monday) with a handful of replacement players activated from their practice squad with only a potential walk-through on Saturday is fair to the Titans?
It looks like we are clear to play on Sunday Gidi......unless another case should come up ??? This could race through the NFL and cause a HUGE Problem......Possibly shut down the League ???
So, forcing the Titans to play on Sunday (or Monday) with a handful of replacement players activated from their practice squad with only a potential walk-through on Saturday is fair to the Titans? NO it is NOT Fair..........BUT it is a Pandemic so I'm good with what they decide for the League.
They can’t reschedule every potential game for later on this season so they have to be fair and play them that week or not at all. Why should the Steelers be forced to reschedule later in the season but then later a game gets forfeited because there’s no way to reschedule it? I don’t want games forfeitEd but worse would be watching another team be handed a victory while you have to go and use your bye week. Worse too, the Steelers have a bye before playing the Ravens if they reschedule the game the Ravens would get the bye before playing us. That’s bullshit.
How would you feel if the Browns were contending for the division title but the team that beat them out by one game got 5 wins because of forfeit but the Browns had to play a rescheduled game and lost the division by one game .
I would think "that's the way the cookie crumbled". Some things in life are bigger than NFL football. The world (nor the NFL) doesn't revolve around the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I don’t care how they get the game played. The point I’m trying to make is that I want the league to handle this in a way that can be used for all teams. Not this time we rescheduled for your bye, next time they move the game to Monday, then a team rescheduled for after the season then one forfeited. The league has to handle all the situations the same or it only fucks up the season. I don’t believe it’s possible to reschedule all the games for later on down the road so they need to be able to get it done on the week it’s scheduled. When this started the league said nobody would be getting advantage over other teams and then they let them have fans at some games and not at others totally ignoring what they said about nobody having the advantage.
No . . . The league was adamant about deferring to a team's local Health officials. They preferred to have all teams allow fans (or none) but left that decision up to local authorities.
They should sit on this for two weeks before rescheduling it. Wait and see what happens with the titans and Vikings also see if any cases come up. Changing the schedule now or in two weeks doesn’t have any effect on the season or teams involved. It only helps everyone see if this will be isolated or more starts springing up
If the league is really concerned shouldn’t they take the extra precautions and reschedule the Vikings game too? If the titans had this before that game the Vikings wouldn’t necessarily show signs until Sunday. Let’s be real here
