Cool, maybe we can get McNabb out of retirement too, need a few more Eagles QBs on the roster. I love everyone ignoring that he was benched this year. All I've seen this offseason are people pining for a QB. Lamenting that we didn't land Stafford, pushing for Watson even though the asking price is 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 young defensive starters. I really don't believe this team is just a QB away. I certainly don't believe Wentz coming here of all places will rejuvinate him, fix our line and playcalling issues. That said, Wentz IS better than Mitchell, so I dunno, I guess how I feel about this comes down to what we pay. I have a bad feeling it will be sizable, especially if there's a bidding war.
Fuck this horseshit. I saw Wentz play plenty last year and he was terrible. One of the worst starters in the league. Processed slow, held the ball too long and took terrible sacks with no internal clock. Oh and threw up some awful decision throws that led to picks. I would rather they signed Fitz than him and its not even close. I wouldn't give up more than a 6th rounder for Wentz and even then he's prob just a body eating up playing time who will get you nowhere longterm so whats really the point. The real point is these clowns in charge are absolutely desperate to make some kind, any kind, of QB move. Even Wentz who looked like crap. And watch them pay out the ass due to said desperation.
From what I'm seeing on Twitter the deal is done but the announcement will come after the Super Bowl. Apparently, we're sending them our 1st rounder (20th overall), Foles, and Tarik Cohen. Even unloading Foles, there's zero justification that exists in this universe for this deal. We've been conditioned to expect the front office to make the worst possible move at any chance. So this shouldn't come as a surprise. The silver lining is that Pace/Nagy will be fired after we go 4-12 this year, and I've heard we won't be on the hook for Wentz in 2022?
No word yet... maybe this isn't happening? On a side note, last night made me think that's how Mahomes would look were he on the Bears. Running for his life, trying to play hero ball, a victim of a coach staff that stubbornly and stupidly refused to make in-game adjustments. Every pass play was slow developing downfield and played right into the Bucs strengths and Chiefs weaknesses. And yet I thought Mahomes played pretty well all things considered and almost completed some super hero throws.
Really glad nothing has happened yet. The whole, "Waiting til after the Super Bowl" narrative didn't make sense to me, so I'm glad it ended up just being people on Twitter fabricating / running with rumors. And if he ends up being a Bear, I will be both wrong on the above and very, very pissed. Ryan Pace shouldn't get to mortgage this team's future to save his job. This team is not a QB away from winning...
Tarik Cohen posted that he asked Pace and Nagy directly and was told not to worry. Now rumors are out that the Bears are also looking into Minshew. So who knows.
Because there may be a Wentz trade but it's all BS lies made from speculation and his lack of speaking. Ya he's likely moving so they pick random teams and make the stories and when they hit they got the scoop and when they don't people forget. It's toxic reporting.
The story they give you to save their asses as to why there is no trade yet is that it's games of poker and chess with different teams trying to see the limits and looking at the rest of the market but while that may be true to an extent it's just that the market and teams haven't moved like they are saying. The lack of any real news to the public just means that the teams are doing a decent job of keeping thing under wraps as to what deals they may or may not be working on (ir that there simply isn't a real deal being worked on). It's Philly and Wentz isn't talking so of course that smoke is gonna get crazy but people are getting high on the fumes and seeing delusions.
The NFL media machine runs off of the same engine as every other media machine. The internet killed any semblance of actual journalism and replaced it with the same algorithms that drive what you see in your Facebook feed. CLICK - 2 more cents into the coffers... CLICK - CLICK - CLICK If it's not making you respond emotionally the likelihood of you continuing to CLICK on it goes way down, and so does their profit margin. It's a garbage tactic used by trash outlets, and I'm not seeing a whole lot of places that are willing to haul it out.
And when you gotta beat everyone to twitter... Just gotta go back to the JPP incident to know how bad it is with real news. Then there was Screaming A with his stroll through Philly meeting a dozen players in one day randomly talking shit about Chip Kelly before it was actually a real issue. Just taking hints and rolling with them to fabricate a story with plausibility. Sports reporters have turned into psychics relying on readings and calling it as fact. What happened to opinion pieces presented as such? Nope all opinions are now click bait and after reading the article you need to read between the lines to know it's fake. The Wentz talk Scheftner had for instance was all opinion. The headlines took it and ran with it as he spoke news. That isn't news, even if it comes true.
Nobody knows the difference anymore because you can pick and choose which news outlets agree with your preconceived notions.
The only reason I think Wentz is going is because he's keeping his silence when he's supposed to have a leadership role but then again it could be the team's inability to stay connected with the players and he doesn't want to say anything that could make whatever worse or he's just awkward. From the Philly side I'm just waiting for any real news or any "leaks" that don't appear like they came from a gypsy.
Just develop your own network of people with opinions you trust and go with that. They're going to be wrong sometimes just like everyone else is, but I'd rather have discussions with people I know are gaining nothing by a back and forth about something of interest. It's the age of shared information. There's no excuse for not reaching out to people and making connections that hold value other than monetary.
Heh, I don't hate him quite this much, I'd go as high as a 3rd for a flier on the off chance he does blossom, but given the speculation, they're saying a minimum of a 1st + others, with the craziest thing I read 2 1sts. That would be the dumbest thing ever, so I could see the Bears doing it. I hadn't seen that Cohen + Foles + 1st rumor, and that is just believable enough to also be completely stupid, so a very Bears thing to do. Honestly, given the rumors are around the Bears and Colts, I could see them both jockeying for whichever QB they can try to land. It would not surprise me if both teams have feelers out at the least. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-rumors-carson-wentz-reportedly-152135437.html - rumor mill stuff there, but it also wouldn't surprise me that he would much prefer the Colts situation to ours. Probably, but it's still super clear he's the best of the 3 QBs from that year, and we ended up picking the worst.
Agreed. This rumor made zero sense to me for a couple of reasons. Sorry I'm late folks. 1--Not that I give a shit about Philly, but wasn't the point of firing Doug Pederson (the guy a couple of years removed from a superbowl) because they chose Wentz as the future? The two had a fractured relationship last year which led to Carson's benching/Hurts playing and Pederson lost the lockerroom. 2--It pains me to give Ryan Pace any credit/benefit of the doubt at this point, but the way the Wentz/Bears rumors came about, it certainly didn't have the Pace-y 'smokescreen'/stealthiness feel to it so from the beginning it felt off for me. It was just out there as big news and everybody bit, and Pace hasn't really operated that way during his shitty tenure here. Not to beat the dead horse, but Charles Leno isn't 1/2 the talent that a shell of a LT Jason Peters was at 38 years old. Wentz would be expensive roadkill here. Also with the NFL taking the 'hot stove buzz' shit from the MLB (all headlines and rumors, no action) Philly really seems to be overplaying their hand here if they are trying to deal him. They aren't getting a 1 and a 3 like Detroit got for Stafford (the extra 1 was for them to take Jared Goff's garbage deal). I'd offer a 4th rounder and Foles and would want Wentz and a 5th in return. Max. Philly, like LA with Goff overpaid off of one exceptional year of play at QB. Their mistake. Next... Oh Jesus fucking Christ... Why not just spend our own 6th rounder on a failed experiment at QB Nagy can't develop anyways until the OC figures out how to best use him come week 13 instead of trading 1-2 mid-round draft picks for somebody else's? One who got benched for the giraffe? Yeah, THAT giraffe.
According to the latest rumors (take it or leave it), Wentz himself is holding up the deal cuz he'd rather go to Indy than Chicago, even though we have the better offer on the table.
