Around 2am Saturday morning, practice squad WR Cam Batson was pulled over for a traffic stop. The officer deemed him intoxicated. Batson allegedly started a fight with the officer, fled the scene in his vehicle, crashed, then fled on foot before being found and arrested.

Batson was originally signed by the Titans in 2018 as a UDFA out of Texas Tech. He bounced between Tennessee's roster and practice squad for most of the next four seasons, appearing in 27 games for the Titans. Atlanta signed him as a free agent to compete for a roster spot this season. He didn't make the cut but did manage to stick on the practice squad for the full season up to now.

Best guess is that the team will release him from the practice squad tomorrow.

No brainer that he gets cut... should be the end of his NFL career. Id never ever consider a player/person like that in my football organization. Glad he didnt kill anybody. Im being polite too, lol... what an asshole.

Batson missed out on a chance to get in a game. Practice squad WR Josh Ali was a standard elevation for last week's game against Arizona. if Batson had been on the roster, more than likely he would have been the one called up as he had been with the team through training camp/preseason and would have known the offense much better than Ali.

Former Penn State cornerback John Reid is the player added to the practice squad to replace Batson. The Falcons initially signed him to the practice squad in November, but then Tennessee plucked him away two weeks later, signing him to their active roster. They just released him, so now Atlanta is bringing him back to the practice squad to wrap up the season.

He's a physical corner, suited for press or bump-and-run. He was projected as a late rounder in 2020 but ended up going to the Texans in the fourth round. Houston traded him to Seattle the following year. He opened this season on IR but was released from the Seahawks rather than being returned to active status. He's a solid prospect, so I hope the team will sign him to a futures contract next week to bring him back for the 2023 season.
