The 2018 season ended with the Bills at 6-10, but strangely it does not feel like a major step back from last year. Sure the 2017 season ended with delirious Bills fans lavishing a ton of money on Andy Dalton in $17 increments. The Bengals miraculous finish put an end to Buffalo's 17 year postseason drought. This year the Bills knew they were out of the playoffs for several weeks. They earned the 10th overall spot in the draft. But, the mood is optimistic in Bills land. First, at #10, a major upgrade at OL or at WR should be available. The Bills, for the first time since Jim Kelly, don't go into the draft with QB questions. We do not know that Josh Allen is their franchise QB. But, we know he's going into camp as the team's starter. The relative stability and confidence this instills is reason for the optimism. Also, the Bills finally will lose a huge amount of dead money off their cap and have a gaudy sum to lure players. It's actually pretty reasonable to expect that they'll be able to make major strategic upgrades at critical areas of need.
Really liking Josh Allen so far, despite playing a bit more and Jackson making the playoffs I would probably put Josh Allen as the #2 rookie QB after just 1 regular season, especially considering the team around him. Probably #5 on my OROY ballot. Top 3 are fairly obvious and Ridley is probably #4.
