I've read about a lot of comparisons to his "catch" lately and the common defense has been that although the ball hit the ground in Brandin's case he NEVER LOST POSSESSION. That's a load of crap. Just watch the white glove and you see his fingers come off the ball and if you look at the laces of the ball you can clearly see it spinning underneath him right before he traps it with his body and then scoops it up with his other hand...
Refs are human and I get that but with the aid of replay, there is no excuse. What's the point of having it if they're too stupid to use it right.
And as someone mentioned yesterday a lot of these bad calls are coming from the home office because they get on the phone with New York and New York tells them what to do. So it might not just be that they’re stupid and I think they are stupid, but it might also be that these are business decisions being made too. The patriots winning that game keeps more Drama alive for people to tune in to watch over the next two games, whereas if the Steelers had won then they had more so all but wrapped up the number one seed.Think about that, starters would potentially be rested, games would be boring, no one would care or watch that much, And yes I know Jacksonville would still be hanging around but really It would obviously create more of an interest to watch with the Pats winning that game
The more I rewatch the game the more I am seeing just how one sidedly they called that game. Pats holding and not getting called even on a TD. Us near midfield with 8 point lead and running for 8 yards on first down - oops ticky tack holding so first and 20. Etc etc etc 6 penalties called vs 2 They didn’t call it the same both ways. The NFL thinks it’s fans are stupid. I watch because I have a tradition of watching the Steelers and going to games with my daughter but that tradition does not cause me to suspend rational thought. You guys know where I stand based on stuff I posted in past regarding the NFL’s actual legal business model and it being sports entertainment, and revelations coming out of the spy gate lawsuit and judge’s words and decision and things that follow from that logically which I and others believe allow them being able to maximize revenue by “fixing” some aspects of games so I won’t go into all that again. I don’t think it happens that often but there are games that I believe without a doubt it has happened.
On New England's 1st TD, the FB (#47) had his arm wrapped around Davis (#28)... actually across the front of his chest as Davis tried to spin away. Or maybe 47 was just propping Davis' head up with his forearm. May have been a charity move... to coincide with the officials not calling an obvious hold.
NFL rule 214-11-section 3 "As it pertains to replay of anything in dispute, scoring, or turnovers.............Instant replay can only BENEFIT the New England Patriots, it can never be to their detriment"!
Oh im sorry i thought this was the Steelers board. I didnt realize I had wandered into the seahawks board. Like it or not the call was made correctly. The fact it was made wrong in another game is irrelevant. While I have not looked I'm sure there otber examples of the call being made incorrectly that do not involve the Patriots and calls made correctly that also do not involve the Patriots. Steelers lost this game because they didnt make the plays they needed to make its that simple.
I agree. However I do feel that the NFL needs to be more consistent. They could've won in overtime. They could've thrown to the end zone on 2nd down and had more time on 3rd down or just spiked it. They didn't and that's on them.
Yes they need to be consitant and the ruke likely needs fixed. Problem is every time they tweak it they make it worse.
Donda esta Santa clees, the boto with the boney knees. He's coming down the street with no shoes on his feet and he's going to...
Surprised no one already mentioned this but NE got another call today against the Bills, clear TD for the Bills, called a TD on the field but reversed.
Talked a bit about it on the main board, but it really did not surprise me that it was reversed. Against the Patriots if there is a game changing pay that goes to replay, the Patriots will be coming out on top...Although with Buffalo rolling over in the 2nd half, not sure if would have changed the outcome...
