Rumor has it Nagy got tired of replacing those visors, and I was going to step up my game this year and start removing all the sunblock as well. https://www.fox32chicago.com/sports...fEkU04_B2AP0CgsZymfSAN4xIjyevQ1lzB1gJSUiTnnLc
Bummer. Although I hadn't gone to camp since 2013, I always really liked the setup at Olivet. Easy parking, easy access, close to the action, fan friendly, kid friendly. This will be used as an excuse to either prevent fans from coming to practices or charging those fans instead. I'm sure the players and coaches are happy they don't have to bunk up together in dorm rooms though.
Yeah, I think parking will be an issue no doubt and I wonder what kind of attendance it can support. I can't imagine the neighbors up there on board with this move either certainly not on board like the people in Bourbonnais. There is nothing that makes me think that this move will be nothing more than a colossal failure much like Nagy's offense, Pace's high round draft picks, and Teddy's GM's, to go against the Bears grain. Maybe we'll see them back down south again in 2021 after Nagy and Pace get fired, and the incoming brass realize Mitch is not a QB.
They spent a bunch of money renovating Halas Hall, this has been in the works for a while. And yeah, from what I read the attendance is far more limited and there will be a "lottery" for the free tickets. To me it's definitely a move for the players and coaches and one that sucks for the fans. IF it produces a better product on the field then fine, but given they don't even bother playing the preaseason, I'm not sure it will.
I am surprised that there are any teams left that hold training camps off site. It has become the norm now for teams to build advanced practice facilities. The amount of money they pull in for fan access dwarfs the money spent on these facilities. Hell the money it cost to move all the equipment and stuff back and forth for off site training camps doesn’t come close to any money made off of fans going to see training camp practices.
