We've now played half the games in this NFL season and we get to discuss something we usually don't really care to discuss. The Ravens have a legit offense! After 8 games and 9 weeks, here's where the Ravens offense ranks across the league:

    #1 in points per game
    #2 in yards per game
#1 in first downs per game
    #5 in third down percentage
    #3 in 4th down percentage
    #1 in ToP
T-6th in total offensive TDs scored

That's pretty much unheard of in Baltimore. The great thing about it is that the majority off the starters are young. Boykin, Brown, Jackson, Brown, Bozeman, Hurst/Andrews are all 1st or second year players. Skura is a 3rd year player, Stanley on his 5th year. That just leaves 3 starters that aren't currently on their rookie deal.

We've all wondered when it woul take place, but it looks like the shift in Baltimore is finally upon us. And unlike past Ravens teams, they are still getting some help from the other side of the ball. Week 2-4 were bad, but since the many changes made (Chuck Clark and Carr at safety, LJ Forte and Josh Bynes at ILB, Marcus Peters and the return of Jimmy Smith at CB), the defense has looked pretty good overall.

I know they already get praise, but I really love the Ravens front office

I don't have a problem admitting when I'm wrong. But, I have to admit . . . that performance against the Patriots was impressive.

The Ravens signed De'Anthony Thomas and waived Canaday. It's odd because I think everyone would expect Jones to be the one waived. I guess the thought process is they need to see if Thomas can handle it, and if he can't, then they still have Jones. With Jimmy back and Canaday's overall uninspiring play, there's less of a need for him.

Also, do you guys realize the Bengals game will be only the 16th regular season game Jackson has ever started? In the 15 games he has started, he's run for 1,193 yards. He's also passed for 2,927 yards for 17 TDs 8 INT and 9 rushing TDs.

Flacco's first 16 games he passed for 2,971 yards 14 TD, 12 INT, 180 yards rushing and 2 rushing TD.

ben roethlisberger in his first 14 games - 2,621 yards, 17 TD, 11 INT, 144 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD

    Tom Brady's first 14 starts (in 2001) - 2,797 yards, 18 TD, 12 INT, 43 yards rushing

    Michael Vick 15 starts in 2002 (2nd year) - 2,936 yards, 16 TD, 8 INT, 777 yards rushing 8 rushing TD

I'm really glad we drafted Jackson.

Just saw this somewhere else. I gave game stats, but here are the Ravens "drive stats"

    - 83 total drives (T-29th overall, T-28th per game)

    - 578 total plays (8th overall, 2nd per game)

    - 51.8% score rate (1st)

    - 7 plays per drive (1st)

    - 41.1 yards per drive (1st)

    - 3:27 average drive time (1st)

    - 2.81 points per drive (1st)

They are getting a lot out of each drive, especially considered we've had one of the fewest total drives in the NFL

The Ravens got 2 possessions after halftime against the Patriots (not counting the end of game). 2! Just to note, the Colts and steelers had something like 6 and 7 possessions after halftime each.

Exactly. When a team makes those two possessions last a total of around 17 minutes, they probably won't get many more. Add in that the Patriots had a semi decent drive end in a fumble return, the ran their way for a TD on the next drive since the defense was already tired.

So I just read that the Ravens are on pace to have the 2nd fewest punt attempts the history of the 16 game NFL season.
