AB posted a picture of himself kneeling on instagram. They say he is supporting the Anthem movement. I say bullshit. He is either showing them how to do it the right way or he is busting the Jets ownership’s chops about saying they would pay the fines. He mentioned that they could pay his fine for kneeling.

I don’t care for this kneeling crap anyways, but if someone has to do it follow what AB just did. These guys have large followings online and could still get their messages to millions of people.

I don’t know what will drag the NFL down quicker? The players with stupidity or the league with rules that change the game so much we Long time loyal fans can’t recognize it anymore?

I support freedom of speech and the right to display a protest during a meaningless bullshit parade that nobody would really miss if they never had one again. Kneeling in protest is more important (an ACTUAL RIGHT) than the sports world “adopting” this ritual of a tin-can band and a guest singer showing up. Don’t forget the money involved for the Armed Forces ad campaign. The pre-game anthem facade parade is such a joke, they should’ve put an end to it when Roseanne Barr perfectly nailed it back in the day.

My point was that AB wasn’t supporting the movement just having fun. I have witnessed enough of AB to know he loves to joke a lot. But the stupid reporters writing ✍️ the article are saying he is showing support & I say bullshit.

There's a time and place to protest for meaningful social causes..........the anthem is neither.

Instagram, Twitter, FB............no problem. During the anthem, only the following will ever be acceptable to the vast majority of Americans and sports fans:
    1) Standing (if not at attention, then straight/respectfully).
    2) Shut up and don't talk unless you're singing the anthem.
    3) Hand over heart or folded over one another at your waist or behind your back.
    4) Hats.............OFF.
    5) Be respectful and thankful for the many freedoms and privileges you enjoy having been born in this country.
    6) Be thankful for the many that have given their lives for our freedom and first responders that have served or been injured.
    7) Depending on venue, some parts of the anthem can be given added zest (Ohhhhhhhhh for example).
    8) Put the damn cell phones away.

That's pretty much it...........that's all the vast majority of Americans and sports fans want to see or hear..............ANYTHING in addition to those........regardless of their INTENT (doesn't matter) is going to be taken as offensive and disrespectful. The aforementioned are the existing norms/traditions pertaining to the anthem. No locking arms together in unity to try and reach some happy middle ground...........no kneeling in protest for awareness...........no sitting on the bench. ANYTHING but those is going to make people's blood boil and push back.

Or you can go to the concession stand or just flag down the beer and bratz guy with your US Legal Tender during the pre-game bullshit advertisement parade.

I always found it funny, how the demonstrators claim it's not about disrespecting the Flag or the military. So why do it during the anthem? Why not meet in the middle of the field before the stretching and warming up and everyone kneel? Oh wait... that's right... nobody will care if you do it then. It's all about the Flag and the disrespect. IMHO

Imagine going to the grocery store and the checkout clerk starts preaching to you while he or she is scanning your groceries. That would go over like a lead balloon. They would be made to stop. No first amendment issue.

The workplace isn't a place for the 1st amendment. If it was, it would be casual Friday every day.

Devil's advocate...Well if no one cares if you do it during warmups then the message won't come across at all.

I have to agree that the fly-overs, dragging some veteran in a wheelchair and unknown family leave from some war torn country that most couldn't place on a map are over the top. As a veteran it really is shameful. It would be easier on all if the anthem was re-written to include every living thing has a right to live. Time to grill some steaks.

I disagree. I understand your point, but it would be seen by hundreds of thousands every week and I'm sure the media would report on it. They report on one person's tweet if it suits their view point. I'm sure they'd report on players protests done at a different time.

I would really like to know what you are saying. Seems like you are making a point, but I for one am unable to understand it completely.

Almost sounds like you are reliving Vietnam.

    Every living thing does live.

It was sarcasm of the NFL embracing the military like Lennie and the rabbit. Hugging and loving it so hard, he killed it.

I am surprised a beer and a hot dog don't cost a wheel barrel of that US Legal Tender now that they've printed so much.

As you already know, I am against the anthem protests. Nobody is forcing anyone to remain a citizen of this country. If you don't like things then be part of the solution or give up and go find somewhere better to live. I think it is pointless to take a knee. What exactly does it accomplish? Nothing imo.

There is the dilemma Tech. They know they can't find anywhere better to live. It's amazing how bad it appears to some, but when they do move they realize it's a hell of a lot better than where they moved.

Part of the problem of this country. Most people don't see what they have. They only see what they don't have.

Besides to work as a live advert for the US Armed Forces, what exactly is the point of the pre-game parade? We already have a Memorial Day AND a Veteran’s Day. A daily parade at every single sports event? Overkill. It’s a fairly recent adopted ritual anyways (less than a hundred years). The right to protest and freedom of expression is much older and way more valuable to any citizen. The pre-game parade is nothing more than a “bells and whistles” salute to authority and a visual vehicle to remind the citizens that gov’t reigns over all. Also, if you’re poor, surrender yourself to your govt and if you survive, we will provide benefits to you and/or your loved ones. Although you may have to spend 10-20 years fighting the govt for the perks the govt promised (my dad). Those who participate are just following along (which I did until my early 20s), or perhaps they truly believe what this parade represents... whatever that may be, because if you ask everyone here what that demo is all about, you’ll get more than 3 answers. Very subjective.

“Top-3 answers are on the board.”

What's interesting is I've never heard anyone who hates the anthem protests ever advocate for shutting down concession stands during the anthem. Or close down bathrooms. Or have the cameramen stop working since they clearly can't be standing with their hands on their hearts while moving the cameras around, zooming in on protesters or the jets flying overhead. I guess all that's okay since the media hasn't told people they should be upset about it. If your argument is about "respecting the flag" then buying nachos or taking a shit during the anthem should really grind your gears, right?

The NFL is paid to support the military, let's remember that. They aren't doing it for free, they aren't doing it out of some patriotic duty. It's purely money related. And honestly, the anger at the anthem protests is purely comical to me at this point. When you think standing with your hand over your heart facing a horizontally held flag, it let's me know you don't truly care about respecting said flag.

Had to quote this one. Did you mean, "be thankful for the many that have given their lives for our freedom......that I approve of"?

Many have given their lives for our freedom of speech and freedom of protest. Hell, many veterans living today approve the the anthem protests, especially the ones who told Kaepernick to kneel instead of sitting in order to be respectful. But I guess we can ignore them.

Just because you haven't heard anyone, doesn't mean people don't. You make many assumptions. I don't care if "many" veterans agree with Kap. Many people think we should be a communist country. I find it funny when people say things like that. It is like... I have a black friend comment made back in the 70s and 80s lol.
