Hey Tim, I know free agency doesn't begin until 6:00 PM, but it shows it as open now, with the claims going through on Wednesday. Which brought me to my question. Is this going into the open season free agency where we will be putting our bids in on FF, or do we have another free agency period here on L4SN before the regular period opens? If it is the former, can we go ahead and enter free agent bids for Wednesday on FF?
Good questions. We'll be using the blind bid system and will be locking in available owner money prior to, which is the primary reason for the deadline. If an owner wants to clear up any capital prior to having funds locked in for the season ($50mil allowable), then that needs to be done prior to the deadline. As for making bids now - Yeah, I don't see any harm in it. They won't process before anyone else has a chance and I can still change the amount of available money, if necessary, even after someone has a bid posted.
And it looks like I'm the only general manager that would need to have any concern over that deadline, as I'm the only one under that $50mil mark...
@Campbell is the trade deadline in all our leagues the 19th? All our dates seem to show it as from 2 or 3 years ago.
I'll have to double check, but it's supposed to be the Tuesday of the week before Thanksgiving, so that would track...
Actually, I could be wrong on that. We may have bumped it down to the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. I'll break the notebook out as soon as I get home, but this feels like something we adjusted when the season got a week longer.
Ok, it looks like the deadline does need moved down one week. We adjusted it to make it so that it shuts down one regular season week prior to the playoffs, so the Tuesday of week 13 should be the deadline every season. Until the NFL adds another game...
