@RSki is free to make the first pick of the draft at anytime.

However, @RTTRUTH cannot make his pick until 6pm if 'The Accountant' picks early.

Well now that I’m officially OTC, a reminder that I am willing to move this pic.

Anyone willing to exchange their one next year plus a pick in the top 30 this year can have their choice of all remaining studs this year.

Always curious why the #2 has to wait until 6:00 pm if the #1 has already been chosen? Is it to give him time to change his mind?

It's for the rest of the draft to be able to approach the holder of the #2 pick for trade possibilities, as well as keeping up with the rest of the order when it comes to negotiations.

The #1 pick can be made early if the owner has no desire to trade or consider trade options without it affecting the rest of the group, other than to solidify that decision for other participants.

Wouldn't that hold true for the #2 pick, if he had no desire to trade it, that would let the next in line begin negotiations with those wanting to move up, rather than waiting to see if the #2 is willing to trade the pick.

It affects picks/trades downwind in that no one has an opportunity to keep up with what is happening if they are looking to log in at the designated start time.

The official start time is 6pm. Having the first pick announced prior to that affects no one other than giving people more information prior to the start.

That first pick is solely dependent on the holder of it, in that they are either sold on making their choice or willing to negotiate for its rights. In this case, The Accountant has decided Breece Hall is the pick with no desire to shop his rights.

If we let more then that first pick roll in before the start time it creates an unfair advantage for the people that are logged in prior to the start of the draft. For those that log in after 6, that is entirely on them.

I get it, it just seems that ANY un-traded (or no intentions to trade I should say) pick would fall under the same category. I would argue that since the #1 pick was announced, that now gives a team that logs in 2 hours early early an unfair advantage to negotiate with RT since anyone that logs in early knows their guy isn't gone. If a team waits until 5:59 to log in, they would not have had that extra 2 hours of knowledge to know they would have traded to #2 overall, even though someone might have already done it before 6:00pm. If you are waiting for competitive balance, then one of two things needs to happen.. either wait until 6:00pm to start the draft, including the #1 overall pick or not only making RT wait to make the #2 overall pick, but also not allowing him to trade the #2 overall pick until 6:00 pm as well, once the #1 overall pick has been announced.

I'm not arguing just to argue, I think it's a valid point.

    A) the #2 overall pick, if there were no intentions to trade it would not matter about an unfair advantage to any team.
    B) now that the #1 overall pick has been made, it DOES give unfair advantage to any team logging in early to know who that #1 pick is in making a decision to trade for the #2 overall pick... No?

Letting the first pick happen before the official start time is just something I allow to drum up a little early interest. It harms nothing and provides a little entertainment.

Two more minutes before I trade this pick.

Take your time, I’m driving and can’t pick for about 10-15 minutes at least.

    @LAOJoe otc.

Sorry to my other potential trade partner. That was genuinely a tough call. But anyone who has drafted with me long enough knows that 1st rounders turn me on in a way that is just unnatural
