2020 GMO Free Agent Bids

Discussion in 'General Manager's Office' started by Campbell, Jan 24, 2020.

  1. Campbell Administrator Manager Commissioner

    Rules will be posted.

  2. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

    5.0 GMO Free Agency

    1. All players that have been cut or reached the end of their contract will be available on the open market to the highest bidder.
    2. Tendered RFAs and players designated a transition tag or non-exclusive franchise tag can also be bid on but the tendering team may require compensation and also has the right to match the best offer.
      1. (Refer to the 2020 GMO Franchise/Transition Tags, RFA's & ERFA's rule for more specifics).
    3. There will be no bonuses and all contracts will be on yearly average wage. We will not assume how many or how few years a player is signed with a team with the exception of players that accept their Tenders or players that are signed to a Veteran Minimum Contract. Those are all 1 year deals.
    4. Player bids will be submitted in tiers based on the opening bid.
      1. The 1st tier (in effect beginning when the GMO free Agency opens) will only be for players where the opening bid is $6,000,000 or greater.
      2. The 2nd tier will be for players where the opening bid is less than $6,000,000.
      3. The final tier will be for players eligible for a Veteran Minimum contract.
        1. The timing for the 2nd tier and Veteran Minimum bids will be determined by the Moderators based on the tempo and/or bid activity of the prior tiers.
    5. All bids must be 10% higher than the last bid, rounded to the nearest $1000, or $1M more than the previous bid, whichever is lesser (see NOTE [1] below).
    6. A winning bid will be awarded for a player when 48 hours elapses without a higher bid being made.
    7. You have 24 hours from a won bid to sign your free agent. If you do not sign him then he will be signed automatically. You may cancel your bid before then and the player's highest bid will be set to a prior value or restarted at the Commissioner's discretion.
      1. Participants will notify the group that they have, in fact, signed a Free Agent by posting the signing in the 2020 GMO Free Agent Bids thread (see NOTE [2] below).
      2. If you win the rights to a player but refuse to sign him you will no longer be permitted to bid on that same player.
    8. A player can't be signed to a Veteran Minimum Contract until (date TBD) at 8am. At that point teams have 24 hours to make a Veteran Minimum bid for any available free agent from this point on.
      1. If more than one team puts in a minimum bid without getting outbid then the owner of the minimum bid will be the team the player was on prior to free agency.
      2. If that team did not put in a bid then it would be randomized by the commissioner.
    9. You can never be over your adjusted salary cap.

NOTE [1]: Please follow this bidding format to help us keep things organized within the thread. Post your new bid first, followed by the previous bid on the same player. Be sure to use the players full name.

    Example:
    The Giants bid on
    Axel Foley - CB
    $1,000,000

    Previous bid
    The Raiders bid on
    Axel Foley - CB
    $900,000

NOTE [2]: Please follow this player signing format to help us keep things organized within the thread.

    Example:
    The Giants have signed
    Axel Foley - CB

    $1,000,000

    # # # IMPORTANT NOTICE # # #

As Free Agent bidding opens tomorrow morning (3/6/20) at 8:00am, we wanted to clarify an important point regarding the MINIMUM bids allowed during the tier 1 phase.

Players that have been Franchise Tagged or Transition Tagged all meet the minimum bid requirement of $6M in the tier 1 phase. As such, the 48 hour clock for these players (used to determine a winning bid) will begin when Free Agency bidding opens.

However, none of the RFA tender amounts applied meet the minimum bid requirement in place for tier 1. In order to avoid keeping these players on the Free Agent Tracker for a prolonged period of time (48 hours after Tier 2 bidding begins), we will allow bids on Tendered RFA's when Free Agent bidding opens tomorrow at 8:00 am.

The only requirement if you chose to bid on a Tendered RFA is that you MUST tag the Original Owner within your bid post in order to alert them of your bid or the bid will be considered INVALID. If you are uncertain as to how to tag a participant, do not hesitate to ask for help.

    I have a huge favor to ask . . .

When posting a free agent bid - please include the player's current team in your post. I don't have every player's team committed to memory and it will save me a shit load of time when updating the Free Agent Tracker.

    Thanks, in advance.

    Sorry Xinik!
I came in just under the wire last night and franchise tagged Littleton.

Well I would bid here, but I’m sadly under prepared for this part. My daughter has been keeping me pretty busy and my computer access as well as my scatter-brain hasn’t allowed me to finalize my FA and draft plan for three different teams. The 48 hour period is my friend now.

You son of a bitch! I must have missed it. I was really hoping to get either Schobert or Littleton and they both wound up tagged here... The real teams don't seem to value them the same way.

I originally wasn't planning on Franchise tagging Schobert, but I looked around and figured he would draw considerable interest in here.

Well I can only speak for the Rams. But they’re a bit cash strapped. And I get the feeling they might be teams waiting to hear on this new CBA. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the minute it’s approved and they know details, if they then tag him within 48 hours
