Little later than in previous years but here is where many of the Mock drafts have the Steelers going. Yes mocks are all over the place and yes they dont mean a thing but occasionally they can at least add some fun discussions. Someone really thinks Lamar Jackson? No way, definitely not in the first round. Vander Esch had a hell of a combine, might just be the pick. Him or Evans would be my guess right now. Adam Kozra from SteelersDepot has Justin Reid, FS from Stanford. Thought that was a little out there, but he does present a decent argument for him.
I wouldnt say that is even close to true need proof: Jarvis Jones, Dri Archer, and Colin Hoba were in no way shape or form the BPA when they were drafted.
You can combine the two into one approach. Many teams do. BPA that also fits a need. You aren't going to take someone that's available if you know they'll likely not contribute or compete for a starting role for several years because its a position of strength, especially in the early rounds, where teams project guys with more impact. Only exceptions might be those where you DON'T ANTICIPATE being quite so strong at a certain position due to free agency losses the following season...........like maybe...........RUNNING BACK.
I think McShay is high on some really heavy shit. No way the Steelers take a TE in Round 1, not with the glaring needs on defense. #CrackIsWhack
Agree. Did he not watch the playoff game and see what McDonald and Ben were finally able to do together?
McDonald is a beast...he will have a big yr....if they draft the kid from Boise St does he project as an ILB?
That’s a huge if though. It was rare for him to make it through an entire game without some kind of injury. I hope it was just a fluke season because he was great when he was on the field. Outlaw has one more year on his contract right? Need to see a pretty big improvement in his blocking otherwise it might be his last contract in Pittsburgh...
If the Steelers always drafted BPA they wouldn't trade back in the draft. They would always stand pat and draft the BPA at the time of their picks. So obviously need plays a part in who and when they draft.
They wouldn’t take a player that didn’t have a high ceiling. Even though we haven’t seen it yet, Burns does have a high ceiling. I believe with better coaching he can at least be in the top half of the league. J Jones was expected to be able to pass rush,he set a record for sacks in college. Dupree was a good looking prospect. They have brought us many more great players than bums over the last 17 years.
