The 2018-19 regular season schedule was announced today. I thought it would be good to have a place to post comments about significant games. It can also be a place to let everyone know about games they'll be attending. I'll have 11 games at the Avs this season. I'd be great if anyone who can make it to Denver to let me know since I haven't picked my games yet. Make it a hockey junket by planning to be in Denver a couple of nights. I've got the Friday games at the Univ. of Denver Pioneers. I think I have to pick the season opener, Thur. 4 Oct. vs. MIN. (I may have the option to pick Sat. 6 Oct. vs. PHI.) I will obviously pick the Sabres game (Sat. 9 Mar.) Other games of note are: Boston on 11/14, Pittsburgh on 11/28, Vancouver 2/8, and Toronto 2/12.
Haven't looked at the schedule yet. Was on the road when it was released. Will be getting half-season tickets for Florida, per usual. Notable games are opening night on the 11th against Columbus, and the Wild come down here on my girlfriend's birthday (she's a Wild fan). Excited to see the schedule in full.
Florida is in Denver on Mon. 25 February. On a side note, I'll need to trek through Western Canada in mid-Jan. The Sabres play in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver from 1/14-18.
Im still waiting for the Wings to have another legit rivalry. Back in the day it used to be Chicago and Toronto... then Colorado after the Drapes and Lemeuix incident. The Wings are soft and I long for the day when a team played Detroit and paid a price and knew they were in for a hockey game. Ive yet to examine the newly released schedule and the season will not get here fast enough to suit me... I miss the ol' game. PS - I like the direction Colorado is going. They seem to be placed in a correct and positive motion... something I hesitate to state about my beloved club. (sorry if I sound whinny, just a bit spoiled)
DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today released their schedule for the 2018-19 season and the team's 93rd overall in the National Hockey League. The Red Wings will open the campaign at home on Thursday, Oct. 4 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. Little Caesars Arena will host 19 weekend home games (seven Fridays, six Saturdays and six Sundays), spanning through the regular-season finale at home on Saturday, April 6 against the Buffalo Sabres. This season's 82-game slate includes four games against each Atlantic Division rivals (28 games), three games against the eight teams in the Eastern Conference's Metropolitan Division (24 games) and two games against all 15 Western Conference foes (30 games).
Penz season/home opener vs the Trotz-less Craps on 04 OCT. Penz wrap up the division and possibly the ECs top seed on 06 APR against the NY Blueskirts.
Looking at it in the light of day, not having purchased our ticket package yet, the home games of particular interest are: Oct 11 - CBJ (Home Opener) Nov 11 - OTT (Hoffman sees the Sens again for the first time... Oh, yeah, and a division rival) Nov 24 - CHI (Panthers come off a long road trip, playing in CAR less than 24 hours prior ; I'm a fan of both teams ; This is the "inaugural matchup", with the two teams playing in FLA's first ever game, and now it being their 25th year. So this game will get marketing hype) Dec 1 - TB (first time Tampa come here, for the season. This is always a huge matchup. Serious rivals in several ways, not to mention good tests for each other, and potential playoff foes) Dec 4 - BOS (first time Boston is here. I hate these guys, so...) Dec 29 - PHI (See above) Mar 8 - MIN (not only is the girlfriend a big fan, it's on her birthday) Realistically, any division / conference game down here is a big one (see NJ, TOR, etc). The trick is that, as the season goes on, you start to get a better feel for which games affect the playoff race most. I would wager that the NJ and Columbus games will be, much like this year, of great importance down the stretch. Rough stretch to close the season, though the last three are at home: BOS, WAS, NYI, NJ. We'll undoubtedly have tickets for at least one of each division matchup, plus a few conference ones. Out of conference games will probably be CHI and MIN, with SJ, ANA, and Colorado maybe getting the nod, as well.
Flyers open in Vegas. Vegas not allowing outside Vegas group ticket sales. they got overtaken last year by the Flyers faithful (mentioned in the ditch thread). Flyers bus trips are looking to invade anyways. No Vegas for me. Probably won't do any home games this year. Saw 2 last year and it was very pricey. Not in the wallet this year for the Catfish.
I have access to two seats, six rows behind the goalie as well as access to the Cadillac club for just about any Flyers weekday home game. Not a Flyers fan obviously but do enjoy going to 1-2 games a year here. If anybody is ever in town for business or for some reason wants to see the Flyers Id be happy to do that.
nice of you to offer. weekday home games are tough to make due to traffic. you got a far ride too. i do like their arena. i know you are cheering for the away team. i heard they are putting club boxes underneath some seats by the player benches. why i have no idea and they are expanding the concourses too. squeezing in more bathrooms and more club boxes elsewhere too. total mess if you ask me. going to take 2 yrs to finish.
If I could score a really cheap flight I would consider it. East coast to Denver usually isn't a cheap flight relatively speaking.
I usually have a pretty flexible schedule where I can leave early to avoid rush hour if need be. TBH Im not there cheering against the Flyers. That may change when they start to become relevant again. I just enjoy going to hockey games.
Aren't you closer to Philly than to Pittsburgh? In any case, United has a hub in PHL & DEN so that could make it easier. The Avs host the Penguins on Wed. 28 Nov. I have the DU Pioneers conference schedule - the non-conf. sched. will be announced in a couple of weeks. Right now there aren't any DU games near 11/28. Of course you do not have to pick PIT; just let me know when you can get out to CO - remember, Colorado is where every day is like being on vacation.
