Time for the hype, the fluff pieces, and the first step in what will be a never ending series of unfulfilled promise. Looks like there will be a couple potential franchise players early, who knows? Almost draft time, gms are firing calls left and right when they're staring at pictures of strapping young men in special files. Thought we could put the interesting stuff here, particularly interesting selections and pick swaps. Will Calgary go 3 pages off the board with a first? Will Boston fumble through 3 consecutive mid-firsts in a row? Will a team set themselves back a half decade by moving in or out of the top 5 like it was1999?
priority #1- looking for the the NYI blonde at the table. #2- yelling at Don Sweeney every time he dares to show his face. #3- getting overly excited when any trade announcement starts.
The trades are really what im looking forward too. This should be some fun. My #1 priority... trying to figure out when this all gets started. Im staring at the trade data, watching Twitter, just waiting for some action.
He didn't really say anything that we didn't assume (calling stamkos soon, etc.) he just said it foolishly. Funny if he loses draft picks over it.

How smart am I? I really wanted Benning as Buffalo's GM. There's a rumor that BUF gave NAS a third for Vesey to avoid having the Preds pursue tampering charges. I don't know if they'd have stuck if it was just Jack talking to his buddy and teammate. Still, the third is cheap if it avoids litigation with the Nashville Butthurts.
The Red Wings have chosen a forward with their 1st round pick 7 years in a row... I hope this time it's a different story. I would like a Jake Bean or something defensively to happen.
Charlie McAvoy, RHD, Dante Fabbro, RHD, Cam Dineen, LHD, & Jake Bean, RHD, would all be strong first round D-men after the big three are gone I also think Kale Clague, LHD, deserves first round consideration but not at DET's spot. If you're looking for the best of these regardless of shot, I'd tab McAvoy.
I'd prefer Fabbro but he's a year or two further away. I'm not high as high on Dineen as you are. What was it you wanted me to do again? I think you said it somewhere else.
I think my comment was on the Leafs board. I'd like to see how you've tiered the draft. I'm not asking for the specific names, but how you have the draft tiered. I'll start off: I'm going to call Tier 1 2-deep even though the two are clearly differentiated IMO (Matthews then Laine). I have 3 in my Tier 2. I have 11 prospects in Tier 3 #6-16, I then have Tier 4 at 12 deep to #28. Tier 5 is 20 deep to #49. Tier 6 is 17-deep into the early third #66. I have a total of 11 Tiers out to #200. I find tiering to be the easiest way to monitor the draft. It's kind of like analog; I'm following clumps of prospects rather than all 211 one-by-one. My board tries to be neutral, but obviously my Sabres bias can creep in. Also, I am far from a scout, so I have no doubt at all that my board is unduly influenced by prospects I've actually seen. Fortunately I've had a chance to see quite a few. I expect if we compared boards they would look freakishly similar based on the Mock Draft. I just wanted to see the framework (tiers) of your board.
I have Fabbro right after McAvoy, but I will not be shocked if Charlie jumps in front of Mikhail Sergachev, Jacob Chychrun, or Olli Juolevi. Speaking of these "top 3" I think they could go off the board in any order depending on the team.
Ah okay. I honestly didn't write it down but had it all in my head. A easier thing to do than it sounds when I'm on this thing running it non-stop. Tier 1: #1-2 Tier 2: #3-5 Tier 3: #6-11 Tier 4: #12-20 Tier 5: #21-30 Tier 6: #31-42 Tier 7 I can't give you an exact number right now but it goes to the late 2nd. Tier 8 late 2nd to early-mid 3rd. Tier 9 goes to close to the end of the 3rd. Tier 10 is relatively big though but I never got to tiers 9 or 10 in my personal mocks.
