Get ready for another season of Caleb getting pounded and all the 99% of Bears fans + 100% of the media wondering why we don't live up to their Super Bowl expectations.
After banks went off the board it’s hard to make a case for OL. But DL? Plenty of options. Can’t get excited about a TE. Just like last draft it’s going to be interesting to see how the edge rushers that go off the board after this pick pan out.
Same as last year. This mother fucker Poles has the hubris to think he “fixed” the lines in free agency and goes for another skill pick. Good luck with this defensive line full of cast offs and bad signings. You fuck. Seven wins guys. That’s where we are.
Well, at least they didn't trade up for Jeanty. With all the pre-draft talk, this doesn't surprise me. But this kid had better be something special to get the top 10 pick. I'm not sure they could've traded down, the draft by that point is pretty weak on "must haves". Big upside with injury concerns? Eh, we'll see.
CBS, and specifically Prisco love it: Bears draft Colston Loveland at No. 10: Why Michigan star deserved to be first TE taken before Tyler Warren Which means it's probably a terrible move, heh.
1- I am genuinely relieved the apocalyptic scenario of trading away #39 to move up for Jeanty didnt happen. I look forward to the laughs and smiles interview this summer where Poles tells us all how close his finger got to the button on that one, only to be talked out of it at the last second. 2- I felt the Bears could wind up in a tricky situation with this pick and they did. The OLs disappeared(even Banks which was a blow) and predictably no trade down materialised cos picks 8-32 are so close in value. The Bears surely tried if Loveland was the target. So ok, there was no steal to be had, but there were still smart choices.....and the Bears didnt make one. Like Verse & Latu last year, Mykel Williams was my fallback DE play. Jalon Walker was intriguing. There were still chances to address a need. 3- Poles you are such a fucking IDIOT!!! How in the fuck do you make this pick? Johnson's finger prints are surely all over this too and i find it very disappointing. I know they want to build a powerhouse offense, im on board with that. But the first 9 picks not falling their way meant this pick should've gone on D and you hit O in the 2nd round. Hate this pick. 4- Given the new situation i suppose if it was me then Cole Kmet has got to go. Immediately. I would try to do it before the 2nd round even takes place. Call up any team you think has a need. Of course, you're selling low cos this shithead team shat all over Kmet's value last season. If they got a 3rd rounder i'd be surprised. Its terrible, but its the pragmatic move, cos i aint paying Kmet $12mil a season to be in witness protection for another year. 5- The Bears now have 3 picks worth a damn and legit needs at T, DE, DT. There's also gonna be a RB pick in there and you need to think about S. Who knows WTF they'll do. 3rd round place kicker anyone?
Still can't talk myself into this. No matter how you dress it up, terrible fucking pick. The biggest talking point from the nuthuggers is: Well Ben Johnson is going to run a lot of 2 TE sets! Kmet isn't exactly otherworldly at blocking, but this Loveland kid "gets ragdolled by power rushers" when he has to stay in and block. I can't think of a better TE to help out Braxton Leno when he can't handle power rushers. And speaking of Braxton, this pick tells me they're content to let his fat ass finish his rookie deal. It is just asinine because Loveland is best running medium/long routes against off-ball LBs in man. I can think of a lot of TEs who can do that, not necessary at 10. And take note, the arm length size queens are going to be real fucking quiet about his 32 inch arms. Other talking point: Ben Johnson was behind this pick! Yeah, and the new HC, for all the flowers he's gotten over the past few months, now decided its time for the honeymoon to end before the first preseason game. I thought for a moment (and this is my own fault) that Johnson would stop the madness, yet it looks like the bears will lean into insanity again, or getting ANOTHER pass catcher they don't need to clog up the WR room and affect everybody's targets like Keenan Allen did a year ago. The silver lining is at least Poles didn't reach for the kid who blew out his knee completely at OT after 3 went right before him. What's fucked is all of the DTs worth taking are gone. Some edges left, but half of them don't fit what Dennis Allen is trying to do. There's one OT worth taking in Aeronte Ersery, but there's a tremendous chance he wont get to 39, and he's a RT. My guy Wyatt Milium is also there and I believe he can handle OT, but fans will decide to twist their panties over his arm length, but not TE2 at 10 overall. What scares me is the amount of DBs available. Poles is a fucking idiot...so I halfway expect the athlete who's not a football player from South Carolina as a "safety" pick. I wanted an OL and a DL with 2 of the 3 first picks. I'm not getting what I want. And I should have known better.
Of-fucking-course. He’s preinjured. Underwent shoulder surgery in January that needs 6 months on his dislocated AC joint in the right shoulder. Fire everyone.
