So who is OTC, Stlcrtn and Joe is ready to go afterwards, then EvertonBears is on deck? Joe and Stlcrtn have my cell # and I also gave it to Everton via message. I will be checking every half hour, hoping my guy makes it to my pick.
THE SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS SELECT JEFFREY BASSA, LB - OREGON Was my pick at the end of the round and the auto was supposed to be here so this works.
Nothing is putting that elephant out to pasture before 2026 at the earliest, his money is going to cripple the team no matter what. Personality doesn't win games. His personality didn't get Colorado into a playoff system that now allows 12 teams to play in it. Sanders, imho, will not succeed early in his career. I'm not writing him off, I just don't see him acclimating quickly. If he doesn't, it is just as catastrophic as them not taking a QB at all. We are going to agree to disagree on this.... this defense was a top ten prior to last year and has most of the same components. Adding someone of this caliber could elevate them back to that level and help the team win games. For the record, the Browns ownership and front office had dinner with him this week in Pennsylvania.. this is a second meeting with Carter in the past couple of weeks. A) I don't think ANYONE wants to go into a season with Kenny Pickett as a starter, worse news would be Kenny Pickett as the back up to a rookie. B) I believe the Browns have other plans, whether that is Cousins or Wentz. Either are a better option than Pickett, but Pickett is a fine back up for either as well. Until we get out from under the Watson cloud, we are in a very bad situation. Not for nothing, Kirk Cousins was in Cleveland last night. It is reported they are giving him assurances that they would like him around for the remaining years on his current contract and not taking a QB at #2 overall. This may end up being a contingent deal until after the draft. Berry has been on the job for 5 years, he has been in the playoffs 2 times... the previous 20 seasons they saw the playoffs once. They were going in the right direction until the Watson debacle. I have no doubt that debacle is at the hands of Haslem, otherwise that single move would have put Berry out of a job. Berry understands the salary cap about as well as anyone in the league. How he is maneuvering around Watson's contract should buy him 5 more years.
I enjoyed all of this. I think Cousins is best case scenario, for team and player. Make it so. Off topic. @LAOJoe (or anyone), can you quickly explain to me these forfeited 5th round picks? We honored them, right?
San Francisco forfeited its fifth-round selection as the punishment for administrative payroll accounting errors that occurred during the 2022 season. Atlanta forfeited its fifth-round selection as the punishment for "improper contact" with QB Kirk Cousins, WR Darnell Mooney, and TE Charlie Woerner in violation of the league's anti-tampering policy.
