Wasn’t a necessity, but more so great value. Plus, if Bryce reverts; Ewers can be prepped to take over in 2026.
For real... nine defensive coordinators in the last 12 seasons. 2014 was the final year for Mike Nolan. That season he made big noise about going full 3-4 during the offseason, so then-GM Thomas Dimitroff spent the big bucks in free agency on big DTs Paul Soliai and Tyson Jackson and drafted another in the 2nd round. But... Nolan ended up sticking with the 4-3. Edge rusher Jonathan Massaquoi started to emerge as a rising star, but landed in Nolan's doghouse after a reporter pressed the idea that Nolan was "forgetting" to play his best players. Osi Umenyiora had positive comments, basically sticking up for the youngster, and Nolan pretty much benched BOTH of them for the season finale - with the division title and head coach Mike Smith's job on the line. So... 2012-2014 = Mike Nolan 2015-2016 = Richard Smith 2017-2018 = Marquand Manuel 2019 = Dan Quinn (head coach ran defense himself) 2020 = Raheem Morris 2021-2022 = Dean Pees 2023 = Ryan Nielsen 2024 = Jimmy Lake 2025 = Jeff Ulbrich 2026 = ??? Another year, yet another DC, yet another change in scheme, yet another fucking overhaul of the defensive roster.
Yeah by the 4th round comp pick stage i think you're getting into value territory for taking a swing. Problem with the Bears is the boy wonder GM took Ferret Guy with like the 70th pick! And knowing WR was a need going in he also passed on Pickens in the 2nd round cos he'd already bought into the "Velus as Deebo-Lite" talk like a mark. Re Savion, it'll also take a creative HC/OC to make that work. Im not sold Kellen Moore is that guy.
Unfortunately we are down to 15 minute time slots at this point. Makes things tricky, and you’re actually overtime already
Dallas will trade next years 4th for an otc pick as long as our guy is here. Obviously next year isn't doing anybody here much good but if interested hit me up.
If you still want to make that trade when Miami is up (pick 150), you got it. I'm popping out to run an errand so I'm posting my approval now in case I'm not back when the picks comes up and you want it..
Thanks. I had some BS come up and I couldn't get on my phone at all. Frazier was on the short list for Seattle but I probably would have taken Ewers so that sucks. Mickens was also pick #2 on my short list. #1 is still there.
