Serious question for everyone… if Tomlin is this beloved ICON that EVERYONE wants to play for, why are players spurning coming here…
Last year, we couldn’t get a trade or a quality free agent wide receiver option, and this year, it seems like the same thing with the quarterbacks…. And not for nothing, the game Rogers is playing not giving a team a decision is just another reason not to want him here…. I think he’s going to play the same games he’s played throughout his career, except now, he’s not the same player he used to be. I don’t think he really cares about winning anyways, because if he did, none of the teams still looking for a potential starter is in the position the Steelers offer, yet here he is, trying to hold teams hostage, because after all, he is Aaron Rogers, I mean, the GREAT Aaron Rogers. Look at what he did to and with the Jets in the short time he was there.

Personally, I’d rather us take a scrub, tank this season and hopefully get a high enough draft pick to select our future qb, instead of floating around mediocrity and continue having winning seasons that don’t mean a whole heck of a lot, because we’ll just stay in playoff purgatory.

who knows, maybe we switch our sights to Kurt Cousins if he gets released, still prefer one really bad season and a chance to change our course, but don’t think we will because Tomlin has never had a losing season and apparently that’s more important than actually being competitive. Ok, rant over.

 

If we can sign Rogers and somehow draft Jeantie out of Boise State our offense could help us run away with the best record in the league.

 

Sources say the money is the holdup with Rodgers, go figures. He thinks he's worth 50M. With the OT we got he won't last 7 games, hard pass.

 

If you pass on Rogers what would the Steelers do? Go into 2025 with Rudolph as the starter? If that’s the case it should have been done instead of drafting Kenny Pickett.

 

Colbert kind of F’d this team over when he didn’t take getting Ben’s replacement seriously. Then he drafted Kenny just to give give the team something to work with.

 

That was Kev’s parting gift. Kenny Mittens. Without Truth and ‘Burghball there is no need to fire up the Caddy. Draft options I like 3 kids: Shough, Dart, Ewers. Where they go is the 1,000,000$ question. Anyone remember suck for Luck? To get Allar or whatever flavor you like , you need to be drafting very high in 2026. I don’t think we’ll see 2022 again, Pickett had a late second round grade , teams adjusted except Pittsburgh. Titans waited for Levis (86) Falcons jumped on Ridder 12 picks earlier (74}. Ridder and Pickett are busts IMHFO along with the Panthers pick @ 90, Matt Corral. Levis was so craptacular the Titans are drafting first overall and looking at Russell Wilson believe it or not.

 

See my reply to Gideon They drafted Rudolph to be the next guy , mixed reviews and BR7 really didn’t make things comfortable either. Then Tomlin really made a mess bringing in Trubisky. I guess Fields at 20M seemed logical for some but he was never the front runner in the future plans. 20/20 Hindsight was draft Jordan Love in 2020 but good ol’ Kev traded for Minkah.

He wasn’t brought in to be the starter. He could end up being the starter depending on how the rest of free agency goes, but it’s not the initial plan for him.

 

The '19 contract extension for Ben was the death of the QB position. After they did that they couldn't really look at the position for a few years.

 

True, but drafting Chris Oladukin was STUPID. NFL is a business, but they had to know Roethlisberger wasn't playing forever, how many years after 2019 would he be effective. Eli and RIvers were about done and Brady was just a freak of nature to play into his 40's. Brings me to Rodgers and Wilson, they are fucking old, move on. Jameis Winston is 31, I think he has a chance to hold up better and can at least run away from pressure. This whole season is going to be how Fantanu and Jones hold up at tackle.
