The Steelers are still in first place this late in the season Wilson is our QB Wilson scoop six was beautiful the refs are really getting on my nerves with the bullshit, they let the bengals mug Pickens but call JPJ for everything I like the way Wilson is playing QB and how about resigning Wilson and Fields to team friendly contracts? forgot TJ showed up today
Again, I'm relegated to highlights and stats, but there's a lot to talk about. The good: Russ Wilson. The guy played great. The INT was not on him. He constantly moved well in the pocket and bought time to hit 2nd and 3rd options. Patrick Wilson and TJ made big plays with TOs. Pickens is a force in the passing game. Najee ran well and was a factor in the passing game. The bad: Giving up 31 points, although the Bengals can score on anyone. The proof is in the Chargers game. The ugly: 20 penalties in this game. Well, they have got to bear down and wail on the Browns next week. The Ravens lost so the North could belong to Pittsburgh, but they have to beat teams that they should. Philly is up the week after and that's a scary team. Still, this team is better than I thought.
The addition of Wilson at QB is what the Steelers needed to back to being a team with a chance to win in the playoffs. I would love to keep Fields for a backup/package QB. The problem and good of our WRs is Pickens, he’s a great pass catcher with a ridiculous attitude.
The Good: First place. Ratshit Birds lose, Tucker is doinking XPs and continues to go wide right and left, it's a beautiful thing. Cannot wait to get Highsmith back, will keep TJ fresh, Preston Smith actually lined up as a DL, very good to have a versatile chess piece. Great move by Kahn to get this guy. Herbig making plays, TJ went off, broke Burrow's will at times. Finally got Friermuth involved, and Najee is running for a new contract. Broderick Jones talking to PIckens about the gun gesture, shows some real leadership from a second year guy. Herbig and McCormick playing well, some great rookies contributing. Payton Wilson was a steal for The Kenny Mittens trade. The Bad: The Zebras, they fucking blew, now that I saw highlights. How was that not DPI on Taylor-Britt on Pickens? They gave up 31 points, some lapse in concentration on the final Bengals TD. I was rooting for the Colts, then realized my wife's team, Miami needed them to lose to keep playoff hopes alive. Austin III is playing great ball, but he might be in concussion protocol. How many snaps did Mike Williams play, they are going to need him down the stretch especially if Austin III cannot go next weekend. The Ugly: Two very talented guys, JPJ and Pickens are going to cost the team a game. They make so many good plays but maybe some of the vets need to have a players only meeting. I hate Trevor Lawrence, aka Ugly Fabio, but that hit he took has no place in today's NFL.
Don’t want to create a new thread just for this, but if Dionte Johnson gets cut by the ravens any chance we pick him up? His salary isn’t much left over to pay and I bet money he will be plenty glad to be able to play for Tomlin again and be a much better teammate.
This is Pickens after the game yesterday. Say what you want, but his apparent disdain for stupid questions is awesome.
With all the two TE sets who comes off the field? Dont want to see Austin sitting on the sidelines. He holds the safeties deep.
I replied to the wrong post, it's a no for me on Dionte Johnson. I agree with Beach, one TE out there, keep Najee or Warren back there to pick up the blitz, go 4 wide here and there. DiD Calvin Austin III clear concussion protocol? Also I hope Jameis continues his gift giving this Holiday Season, more INT's will sway the game on Sunday. With that said I would use Darnell Washington to Chip Garret. There was a game last year he actually pancaked him this year he whiffed so hoping he gets a second chance. Also wiithout the snow maybe they catch Pickens getting mugged. Home game, so it could actually happen.
Finally got the right quote. Ravens are most likely suspending him for conduct and effort. We've seen this movie before, no need to order more popcorn and a second soda. Steelers do better at home vs. Browns, it's not a Thursday game, and Highsmith will be back. I am wondering if they bring up Eric Rowe, especially with Winston reverting back to throwing picks.
First thought, I was thinking I’d be ok with that. I think his “poor attitude” last season was due mostly to Canada, and that’s understandable and IMO forgivable. But thinking more on it, no don’t bring him back. This year’s attitude, refusing to go into a game? That’s a hard pass. Mike Williams hasn’t been productive but hasn’t been a problem. Locker room appears to be locked in right now, don’t need to add possible drama. Plus, whose spot on the 53 does he take? They just waived Ward to open a spot for Trice (I assume anyway), who would they cut for Johnson? No need to over-think this, if DJ gets released after his suspension, leave him alone
I’m starting to really like number 15 on our special teams and at WR. I can’t spell his name but he has been impressive the last couple of weeks and would probably wind up getting chopped if they had to add another WR.
Williams has played in 27% of the offensive plays…. He’s only been targeted once, albeit a big one, but if you’re out there 27% of the time, you should be having the ball atleast tossed in your direction more. I don’t know, maybe they’re utilizing him more in a blocking role.
