Saints are more cursed with injuries than the Titans. Thanks for reminding me Joe........I suppose the Bills will Buffalo Tenn. this Sunday.
Mike Tomlin declined to name this week 7's starting QB... he didnt want to tip the Jets for obvious reasons. So, along came diva Pickens and says this to the world after practice speaking about Wilson... “Yeah, getting on the same page after practice, throwing,” Pickens said, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. “More than usual, because this is his first start.” If Im the HC in Pittsburgh, me and Pickens would sit down and have a serious talk.
Good point, I believe your correct. And I think it was in an X post I posted on the MMQB thread, but i forgot about that. It really did point to and sound like they were going to roll with Wilson. Funny thing is, ESPN and CBS along with PFT all made it sound as if Pickens let the cat out of the bag.
Almost too little too late. Kamara is the only good starter they have left. And he's beat up. Terrible game for him last night. No WR's. Looks like another long cold winter.
Kudos Joe.........the Hamilton Ti-Cats waxed the Calgary Stampeders last night to end their season.....too bad they missed the playoff's and I wonder who are you going to cheer for in the Grey Cup?
Als or Riders. IDK Still one more game. Ottawa are so lucky they got that tie earlier in the season or the game would be for the last palyoff spot.
The Houston Texans fully deserved to lose that game to the Pukers. You've got 1st & 10 at the Packers 12 at the 2min warning with 3 Packers TOs. You know the Packers are gonna sell out to stop the run. So what do the Texans do, two runs up the gut straight into a sell out runD for predictable loss of yardage, followed by a half hearted attempt at a pass on 3rd D that stops the clock. I like Demeco Ryans but that is a defensive HC coaching scared and hoping your gonna stop the Packers from getting a FG, which of course they didn't, cos its 2024 not 1990. Terrible terrible 3 down series. You had 2 chances to use the Packers run D sellout against them with a PA and either score a TD or at least get a back breaking FD. Offensive minded HCs get that. No way in hell LaFluer himself plays it that way. That was classic defensive minded HC thinking. Texans deserved to lose.
I witnessed quite a bit of dumbassery today from more than a couple coaching staffs. I'm starting to view this as part of a larger problem. I have to go back and start looking at previous seasons to make sure there isn't some bias baked into my opinion, but the NFL may be suffering from an epidemic of subpar quality coaching for more than a couple seasons now...
Oh and can i just add, the amount of jawing the Packers DBs got away with that game, particularly that POS Jaire Alexander, was disgusting. They were taunting all game long. Like the entire game. And not one flag. Its a really bad look for the game.
Somehow Sam Darnold came out of that game with a 100+ passer rating. Wow. Not hating but that is the least impressive 100+ i've ever seen. The pick was terrible. Justin Jefferson made half a seasons worth of all-league catches in that game to help his QB. None that shows up in the box score tho.
That would be a fascinating thing to explore. My hunch is you won't be proven wrong by previous seasons. Coaches seem to have far more license to be risk tolerant these days than they ever used to, by miles. I can't tell you how much i wished Coach Cro-Magnon's imbecilic decision to try that fake punt inside his own 30 on 4th & 7 had been the difference in the game. I've spoken about this before, this notion of "the book" and going for it on 4th down is fundamentally flawed imo. I have a pretty good grip on 3rd or 4th down conversion rates around the league. When its 4th & 4 and they put up a graphic saying "the book" says like 68% Go, how TF is that realistic? I just dont buy it. Personally i think aggressive risk taking is actively encouraged. It certainly makes for more drama which lets be honest the league is more than happy with. But it leads to frequent terrible situational decision making.
Did the Texans start that? I had the volume down when that came on the tv and couldn't make it out. Whatever that was it shouldnt give free reign to carry on that way for the entire game. And Alexander gets away with that shit every single week. And yes im not unbiased lol
So many factors get ignored in the algorithm. Do you have a back that converts short yardage routinely? Do you have a back with size that can move through contact? Does your offensive line move the defensive line off the snap? Do you operate with a fullback regularly? Do you have a quarterback that is effective at sneaking? And so on, and so on... And what about momentum? You can KILL your offensive momentum by going for it and flubbing it. So many factors...
but the NFL may be suffering from an epidemic of subpar quality coaching for more than a couple seasons now... YUP...........I do not understand Coach Callahan (Titans) today.........sitting Hopkins and Ridley in the 4th Q....was he punishing them or thought he could score 17 Points without them ?
