We're two weeks in and I'm genuinely surprised that Caleb isn't dead yet. One thing I've noticed is Caleb's propensity to want to make the big play. 3rd and 3 with room to run in front of him to pick up the first, and he's throwing 20 yards downfield. This offense doesn't give him 3rd and short very often - but when he's got it, he's got to focus on the chains and not the big play.
That's what I keep thinking. What the fuck did Kmet and Herbert do to the new OC to get this kind of treatment? Herbert, from everything I've seen, is not only a good player on the field but a great guy in the lockerroom. Travis Homer - and trust me, as a Miami Hurricanes fan, it's great to see him sticking in the league - is not Khalil Herbert.
Agreed. He badly wants to be the big play pocket passer. But he has to learn to take what’s there and fight for another down.
This offense is so fucking bad. I don't know if I've EVER seen an offense with so many miscommunications between WR's and the QB.
That was a good team in their house. A lot of work to do but the Bears hung in there. Teams are throwing the kitchen sink at this kid right now. He will learn and get better.
Caleb either got frustrated and wasn’t communicating well or the receivers weren’t hearing the playcall right because there was no connection between him and them the whole second half. Gotta clean that up. It’s bad enough the Oline is putrid….when a throw is made you gotta be on the same page. So much to work on and the biggest problem, the Oline, can’t be solved until next offseason. Fucking Poles. still think they bounce back next week and the offense looks better. And the defense is doing enough to win some games. But there are gonna be a lot of rough moments for this offense this season.
"They hung in there" rob because the Defense balled out the second half, and the offense turtled into the most 2005 fucking offense I've ever seen, which given I saw that LAST week is a bit of a surprise. I keep thinking who to blame, Waldron, the line, Caleb for over throws, maybe the WRs for drops, any RB for the pathetic showing? The answer is fucking everyone. It's a dysfunctional shitshow right now. And flus, that challenge, you were RIGHT FUCKING THERE. Literally in front of it. Maybe we need to try another lateral, eh Waldron? Oh, last 2 minutes, we have this guy Kmet on our team? Wow he can catch passes? Well fuck him, lets go to Everett again, I like him from Seattle more. Those last 4 downs were emblematic of the entire game in such a nutshell. Fuck this team.
The Colts showed today they are very beatable, so the Bears will either: 1. Have a get right game as you predict. 2. Give the Colts a "get right" game and Richardson looks all pro I want to see 1, and it's definitely possible, but at this point I expect 2. Prove me wrong assholes.
I think there will be other bombs this season in which the Bears offense is embarrassing. Because….duh. But yeah I see a bounce back game next week. I’m gonna will that shit into existence all week.
7 sacks, 11 QB hits, a reported 36 pressures off 42 dropbacks. And all of it completely predictable as many of us here did. I will be dead long before this dumb as fuck team gets it and builds an offense the way actual good teams build an offense. Fuck Poles.
Oh and you can now throw a clean right hook that lands on the button and not only will every zebra miss it even tho he's the only white jersey on the opposing sideline, but New York, who will stick their noses into every other aspect of the game, won't even twitch a muscle. Joke ass league.
One final thing cos it pissed me off at the time. Details matter. You've got 2nd & Goal from the 2, running clock inside 40secs left and you snap the ball with 18secs left on the play clock. TERRIBLE. Why TF do you not run at least another 10-12secs off the clock. It effects your play call in no way at all. You are still throwing to Odunze on 2nd down(piss poor drop), and you can still run it on 3rd down knowing you have a TO left if he's stopped(he wasn't). Failure of basic clock management and it cost you 3 points in a close(on the scoreboard) game.
Its not often that I want to say this, but even 2 games into this 'Waldron' offense, something has to change. Too much Travis Homer and Gerald Everett, and I'm not convinced that duo is better than Kmet and Herbert. If Cole Kmet can't be a part of your passing game with a banged up Odunze playing on a snap count and Keenan Allen out and every pass going to Gerald Everett, it's time to listen to trade offers. Kmet is the 5th highest paid TE in the league, 12.5 mil AAV, and you're using him explicitly as a blocking TE, targeting him less than the WR3 on a snap count. Poor money management from the GM who extended Kmet just one year ago. Poor talent management from the OC we were told wasn't like Getsy and can 'tailor his scheme to his talent.' I shouldn't be surprised, it's the bears afterall. Caleb looks like roadkill. Seven sacks, jesus fucking christ. First half had plenty of good to it, and a dropped TD by a guy drafted #9 overall. Lots of good throws, just a shame this year is going to look like him running for his life or getting fucked before he can take the first step of his dropback. The OL is just plain fucking trash, but we already knew this. It was trash last year, and dead last in the league just 2 years ago, and personnel hasn't changed all that much since then. Taking WR3 at 9 overall continues to look stupid, and the GM should be on the hotseat. FA and other teams' PS should be scoured this week, because the 5 clowns rolling as starters need new jobs. DeForest Buckner is going to live in the bears' backfield next week. 3T is a growing problem. Gervon Dexter and Pickens were perpetually blocked. Extend Billings again. He's getting more penetration on the interior than anybody else. Stevenson and Brisker can stop chirping any fucking time.
Too stupid to trash talk. It runs in the family. Imagine thinking that picking up another teams failed QBs is a flex. That's wild.
