"They were able to get the joint back into place without surgery, which is a positive,'' Reid said after the Chiefs concluded a training camp practice at Missouri Western State University. "Then we'll just see on the recovery. He is back in Kansas City now. He stayed over in Jacksonville until they got that thing situated.''

Asked whether Brown could return in time to play in the Chiefs' Sept. 5 season opener against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium, Reid said, "We'll see how that goes.''

I agree with Morris' assessment. He was definitely excited, and pretty much all of his incompletions were balls that were overthrown. Former UGA and Falcon quarterback D.J. Shockley was one of the commentators for Atlanta's broadcast (the one on NFL-N is the Miami broadcast). He said that it's understandable for a rookie and that in his own first preseason game he was so amped that he was trying to throw everything through a wall.

I will add that while the incomplete fades (only one stood out as a poor throw) got mentioned in the article, the only pass that I would call a true mistake was his first incompletion. He went for a deeper ball to a wide receiver who wasn't really as open as Penix thought. He overthrew slightly, which was just as well as the ball would have needed to be perfect to have any chance for a completion. Meanwhile, his running back was wide open over the middle for an easy 7 or 8 yard gain. It was 3rd and 6, so the decision to throw rather than check down cost Penix his first drive.

Otherwise, yeah, very good first preseason game for the rookie. Later, he did go through his progression and checked down to an open receiver in the middle. It wasn't his biggest gain, but it may have been his best play, as he made the perfect decision and then delivered a perfect pass.

I could be mistaken, but fairly confident he was traded for, not a free agent signing. However his contract was the reason he requested the trade from Philadelphia so not sure why the Jets haven’t signed him to a new deal. You would think they would’ve talked numbers before trading for him

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the 49ers and Steelers have a deal for a potential Aiyuk trade in place. The Steelers also are “in a good place” with Aiyuk on a new contract. If the 49ers give their final sign-off, the deal will be done.

This report is 2 hours old.

Also just made official Brandon Aiyuk traded... wait never mind, after weeks of speculation, he is still a 49er.

This is almost as excruciating as the Brett Favre retire/won't retire crap we were put through, like 3 years in a row... I am just sick of reports popping up on my feeds with "updates". It's been going on for days straight. Everyone with a sounding board is writing something hoping to be the one that just happens to "break it" when it finally gets done... How about do your job and report something WHEN it's done?

Sorry about the rant, this should be in opinions rather than news...

I’m glad, we don’t need a WR bad enough to trade away two good picks and then sign him to the teams biggest non quarterback contract.

The only thing I can say to console Vikings fans: go back and look at what Sam Darnold did with Carolina after he returned from IR in 2022. They had McAdoo as QB coach to work with Darnold, and he went 4-2 down the back stretch with a 92 passer rating. Keep in mind he was taking the reins of a 3-8 team with an interim head coach that had already traded away their best offensive player (Christian McCaffrey).

Darnold needs to have the right coaching staff support around him, keeping him clean in his mechanics. I obviously remember McCown as a QB himself, but I don't really know how good he would be with working on mechanics, and I know nothing at all about Grant Udinski.

When they were on different teams in 2018 or 2019, McAdoo had very strong positive comments on Darnold. He said that Darnold's flaws were basic things that could be fixed - issues with balance and footwork. They worked on those issues together in Carolina, and it made all the difference in the world. The Vikings will need to keep McCown and Udinski staying on him on those fundamentals to make sure he doesn't fall back into old habits. But if they can do that, your season is far from over.

    Trade:

Patriots sending Matthew Judon to Atlanta for a 2025 third round pick.

For anyone writing off Atlanta because they don't have a proven pass rusher, well, they do now...

It's tough as a Vikings fan Udinski looks kinda young don't know how old he is missing Capt Kirk right now just hope he coachable maybe McCown help him tighten up his game and maybe just maybe KOC will installed the confidence in Sam Darnold like he did with Capt Kirk Purple and Gold forever GO VIKINGS

The nice thing is that at this point I don't think they need to "fix" Darnold. McAdoo already did that, and SF was happy enough with him as Purdy's backup that they pulled the trigger on dumping Trey Lance. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do for Minnesota this year. It's quite likely Darnold revives his career this year the way that Baker Mayfield did with Tampa. To me he has already shown he has the skills. But I do think coaching the basics is still important, just to make sure he doesn't revert to the bad mechanics he had in his first two seasons.

Reports are coming in that the

    Falcons have signed Justin Simmons.

Ian Rapoport is reporting it as a one year deal with $7.5 million fully guaranteed.

Atlanta lost some key depth at safety for a while in the first exhibition game when DeMarcco Hellams injured his ankle. The team did not put him on IR, as doing so at this point would have ended his season, but the reports are that he will be out "for an extended time". Jessie Bates and Richie Grant were the projected starters, but Hellams had taken the starting role from Grant late in the season last year under DC Ryan Nielsen. With new head coach Raheem Morris and DC Jimmy Lake, the system has changed again, and Grant had stepped back up to the forefront.

Now it looks like Bates and Simmons will end up starting, with Grant and Micah Abernathy as the top two backups. Hellams will briefly make the initial roster but likely gets moved to IR the very next day.

The Cincinnati Bengals agreed to terms with kicker Evan McPherson on a three-year contract extension, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported on Friday.

The pact is worth $16.5 million and includes $10 million in new money in the deal's first year.

McPherson was entering the final year of his rookie contract, set to earn $1.055 million in base salary. Now he's locked in through the 2027 season.

A fifth-round pick out of Florida in 2021, McPherson has been money since entering the NFL. He's made 78 of 93 total field goal attempts, including just one miss inside 40 yards, and 126 of 132 on point-after tries. The Bengals booter has gone 21-of-28 from 50-plus yards with a career-long of 59.

The kicker has been spectacular in the postseason. In seven games, he's made all 19 of his field goal attempts, including 3 of 3 from 50-plus yards.

With McPherson's extension done, the Bengals have one massive deal left to ink before the regular season arrives: Ja'Marr Chase.
