SB Nation reports that the Steelers inquired on DK Metcalf of the Seahawks... apparently its possible he will be available, for mostly cap reasons. , Article states he won't be available till June to maximize value / minimize losses there if they do it at all

Have no idea if this is the possible "big deal" McFadden is speaking of but if it can happen it sure passes all the definition of big deal to me, Amazing if it would happen
Imagine Pickens, Metcalf and Wilson in same formation ... with two powerful armed QB's to rifle passes, who do you cover and leave another open?

 

Cover zero on the TE

 

Just read a Dave Bryan article on DJ also. so, even if it doesn't happen there are at least two writers who have proposed it might and articulated on just how it could happen if the powers that be want to.

Also read Odell Beckham is also potential. Would far rather have the 26 year old DJ... no baggage or severe injury to concern about all year long

We can afford him, we have $19,000,000 in cap space.
That’s enough for DK and our rookie class plus extra.

 

I think going into Year 2 they would try and bring that number down with an extension. But those are reasonable #s for a WR1.

That's outstanding news beach and I'm with bites, all in on Metcalf. Can't believe it will happen but o my gosh what a receiver corps we'd have if it could.

 

Is the overall thinking that the Steelers will work out a multi-year deal with Harris this offseason instead of picking up his 5th year option?

Najee is too much of a presence in that locker room and valued team leader by Tomlin for me to believe they are going to flirt with him signing elsewhere at the end of this season.

 

From your mouth to their ears Tim. I feel the same way. He's far too valuable a locker room presence let alone a 3 year 1000+ yard runner with a fairly anemic offensive line and little QB presence / help. He and Jalen make a great combination that to my mind should not be separated especially this early in a brand new process that the 2024 Steelers have to look forward to.

I'm in great hopes of a preseason extension.

 

Not seeing any valid chatter on the Metcalf trade, Steelers dot com, BTSC and Depot are not saying jack shit.
I still think they need another starting caliber WR on the roster. Could come via FA or wait for cuts around Labor day. The group they have is good, but they need another proven vet who can mentor Pickens and now Wilson.

 

Yeah. it was just the one article from SB Nation. Maybe they're going sneaky Pete, under the radar stuff. Or maybe it's just an old man's wet dream of an outstanding receiver coming to an already well improved team looking to make a sincere SB run. Sadly, it used to take a lot more for the dream to come to fruition....

 

If the Seahawks are willing to trade Metcalf, it won’t be till after June 1, so until then there really isn’t much to say about it. Seahawks could restructure his deal and that would all but remove him from the trade market

 

That's exactly how SB Nation framed it king. I don't supposed there's a whole lot of chance it would happen between other competition and the Seahawks themselves figuring out a contract friendly deal. Who in their right mind would let go of a receiver, 26 years old, with over 5000 yards and 43 TD's of of which 25 come from Wilson.

Would love to have them reunited in Black and Gold but we're in a holding pattern till after June 1 for sure.
