That takes care of the seventh rounders that were missing. You can also choose two more players to sign as undrafted free agents. Do you want to select them yourself, or would you like Joe to choose them for you? He'll be filling in the blank spaces (all the UDFAs are listed on the Participants tab of the spreadsheet) sometime after 9pm tonight.
2nd UDFA for the Lost Angeles Chargers: Jowan Briggs, DT, Cinncinati (btw, he already met with Bengals owner, so he'll probably be a Bengal.) 2nd UDFA for the NY Jets: Myles Murphy, DT, North Carolina
Hayden Rucci’s dad Todd played guard for the Pats during the 90’s Bledsoe era. Just an overshadowed father-son connection in a year where you have Rice’s kid, Harrison’s kid, TO’s kid, Alt, McCaffrey, another Kris Jenkins, another Jeremiah Trotter, another Frank Gore, etc. Nobody cares if both dad and offspring are obscure lol
Definitely one of the better ones but it helps they have the ammo they need. Hard not to screw it up. Honestly I thought they did but then they traded up aflgain for who they probably should have drafted earlier.
Been meaning to come back and comment on this… Unless Washington passes on Daniels, the real Patriots are almost certainly going into the season with Jacoby Brissett as QB1 regardless of who they pick tonight, so I don’t see why it’s so shocking the fake Patriots would be willing to do so. This was my third mock. At some point I was hoping to go through the thought exercise of seeing what would happen in a trade-down scenario. In the first two, Maye went number two both times. I had discussions about trading down both times. In the first, neither NYG or CHI were willing to meet my asking price, so I easily selected Daniels. In the second, I had a tentative deal with NYG but only if Maye was available. When he went #2, I again easily selected Daniels with no other offers. In both instances if Daniels had been the pick at 2 and I hadn’t traded, I would’ve gladly taken Maye. This time, although even the deal I accepted from Minnesota might’ve been a touch light, it had three first rounders and was close enough to proceed with seeing what else would occur. Once I moved out of that slot, it was with the full understanding I might not come out of it with a QB this year, though you did surprise me taking Penix in the top 10. I don’t dislike Penix, but I wasn’t taking him before #34. New England’s current roster is not a good spot for him. Send him to Vegas or Minnesota where he has actual NFL caliber line and receiver help and he should be fine, but I have pretty strong doubts what he’d look like without 5 top 100 OT and WR picks around him like he had at UW. The results of the first two mocks when he went mid-2nd backed up that valuation to me. Nix I had zero interest in. I don’t think he’s going to make it in the league other than as a Chase Daniel-style career clipboard carrier. I low-key enjoyed the chaos my continually passing on him created though. Rattler I might have taken at 68 if I hadn’t traded up (and assuming Patrick Paul wasn’t still available). I was prepared to take him at 91 but Denver snagged him a few picks earlier. I probably should’ve taken Jordan Travis at 91 but that fell to the perils of being on vacation and doing a mock from your phone without your player spreadsheet open on your laptop…I simply forgot about him. So that’s how it gets to be believable that I didn’t draft a QB. I’m not going to take a guy I don’t have conviction about just to fill a perceived need. The Pats have a bad roster and have screaming needs at LT, WR, and TE as well and I got players I feel really good about at all of those spots plus added another high-end CB prospect to pair up with Cristian Gonzalez and a 1st rounder next year. ~fin
Pratt is my QB7 in this draft. I don’t trust Rattler’s head and Travis’s knee worries me that he won’t return to form.
This feels like the area that a team still in need of an arm will take a swing at Pratt, so your logic is sound all around on this, IMO.
Mid 3rd to early 5th. That is the window I see. Falcons took him late 4th in our last mock and the 49ers (you) only took him 1 pick sooner the mock before.
Don't forget guys I am now retired, I can push up the draft as a bigger hobby. I run 5-7 simulators a week, those following me on Twitter (Willie, Tim, Stlcrtn etc.. can confirm this.) Draftbuzz is limiting. NFL pro network you can just run them as much as you want. The same goes for NFL Mockdraft Data base, all day long. What is crazy is 4 DB's rated in the top 10, 2025 is the draft to boost your secondary.
