The only way this would be of any value is if Pickett set the offense on fire and Wilson is relegated to backup. Still, I'm not sure what their options are. Cousins is too pricey. Mayfield is off the market now. Who steps in and starts that's way ahead of Pickett? Kenny better hit the switch, but he probably won't.
It’s low risk/high reward. What’s the worse that happens? He only averages a TD every other game? There was a rumour he was interested in the Titans ....a Mentor and BU for Will Levi....but it did not Happen and I don't think Pittsburgh is going backwards Gidi......good luck with Russel.
Not a super exciting signing in my book. Sean Payton is a better offensive mind than anyone on the Steelers staff and he felt the Broncos were better off eating 85 million in dead cap space over the next two years than to keep Wilson. Still hes better than Pickett currently is. Pros cheap better than pickett Doesnt throw a lot of interceptions Cons Takes a lot of sacks 100 over his 30 games in denver and is 5th all time in being sacked despite not even hitting 200 (188) games yet only other player in the top 10 in sacks to not have 200 games is cunningham Best case scenerio Pickett comes into camp on fire angered that the Steelers brought in wilson and out performes him in camp and pre season. He then goes on to seize the starter job and becomes the QB some fans think he is capable of becoming. (Not likely) Best case 2 Russell recaptures some of his seahawk magic the steelers have a 12 win season and they finally win 1 game in the post season before being sent home. Worst case Russell turns out to be Trubsiky 2.0 and loses the starting job after 9 games. Pickett comes in looks like the QB most fans think he is and the Steelers have their first losing season under tomlin. Pickett is cut Russ is allowed to walk and the Steelers start a hard rebuild. (Not likley to happen) Worst case 2 Russ is average the steelers eek into the playoffs with a winning record and go home in round 1 once again.
I would love to see Wilson recapture his glory from Seattle, but I don’t get a this is now a SB team. Wilson is a sack taking bag. With our crap line our backups better be ready.
Not saying the Steelers OL is top 5 or anything, but the best OL in football can’t prevent a sack if the QB runs away from a clean pocket into a defender like Pickett consistently did last season. Bad news is Wilson does it more than I would like as well. Wasn’t thrilled about the signing, but he’s a Steeler now so let’s go!
I think Wilson was a smart signing, it brings in an immediate challenger to Pickett which he better shit or get off the pot. I was a little bummed that Morse went to Jville I read the Steelers made a hard push and now the OC position has dwindled in FA.
