There’s no way the head coach didn’t know his franchise QB was already injured, while he was wearing a corrective device on the team bus to the game. Was he told it was a tribute to Michael Jackson… the singer, not the great former wide receiver of the Browns.
I agree. The wrist wrap, then the video of said wrist wrap was mysteriously deleted by the Bengals... then after the game Burrow wouldnt and didnt talk to the media which is only permissible by players with concussion type issues. Zac Taylor in talking to reporters after the game acknowledged seeing online chatter about the wrist wrap. But he said he knew nothing about it until it showed up on social media... So why did he presumably do nothing about it or ask Burrow some questions? Lots of smoke in this one, but what will the NFL do remains to be seen. Some say its not a big deal, but when the NFL endorses and uses gambling as a revenue factor, maybe the people investing may want to know the damn truth. Speaking of gambling, my money if I had any, is on the NFL covering their butt and the Bengals getting off the hook.
Ryan Tannehill has requested an Immediate release from the Tennessee Titans as of yesterday. I'm sorry this makes NO sense....it does not matter where he goes he will be the BU QB. Browns ...BU Bengals...BU NY Giants...BU Why not stay in Nashville and mentor Will Levis and get paid HUGE coin and be ready if needed. Sorry I just don't get these Spoiled Rotten Athlete's these days.
He might and probably still get paid big bucks. Secretly a GM can call the Titans and work out a deal that says, look, if you release him and after he clears waivers, we want him... calling party will have to flip the bill for the contract. I think thats a viable scenario. I might be wrong, its happened once.
NFL will investigate whether the Bengals concealed Joe Burrow’s wrist injury The Bengals have some explaining to do. Yes, the league is investigating the team’s handling of Joe Burrow’s wrist injury. Starting with the question of whether it was injured before last night’s game. Common sense suggests it was, thanks to video posted — and deleted — by the Bengals of Burrow with a wrap on his wrist while traveling to Baltimore on Wednesday. The NFL tells PFT that it “will review the matter with the club.” As one league source said on Friday morning, the investigation has already started. And the key will be practice video, which will show whether (for example) Burrow took all or most of the first-team reps — and whether (for example) Burrow was demonstrating any signs of discomfort, etc. while throwing. Photos from Tuesday’s practice posted on the team’s website don’t show Burrow with any sort of wrap or protection on his wrist. The NFL also will check training-room logs, to see whether Burrow received treatment on his wrist. Some players, however, get treatment away from the facility. It’s entirely possible that Burrow concealed the injury from the team. It’s also possible that there was enough to put the team on notice that something was amiss. Coach Zac Taylor said after the game that he knew nothing about the issue until he saw the social-media reaction. Well, that happened on Wednesday night. Shouldn’t the Bengals have investigated and, if necessary, updated the injury report? Here’s the other reality to consider, in connection with this investigation. Is the league hoping simply to say that it looked into the situation, or is the league trying to get to the truth, no matter the consequence? The actual motivation of the investigator is critical to the outcome of any investigation. Is the NFL looking to simply check a box? Or is the NFL looking to properly enforce its rules regarding the reporting of injuries? We’ll find out soon enough. PFT
Jaguars put Trevor Lawrence (knee) back on injury report The Jaguars got caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar. They have now removed said hand from said jar. In response to an inquiry as to whether the league is exploring the failure of the Jaguars to continue to list quarterback Trevor Lawrence as having a knee injury even though both Lawrence and coach Doug Pederson have made it clear that his knee is still injured, the NFL has informed PFT that the Jaguars adjusted their Thursday injury report. Per the team, Lawrence fully participated in practice, with a knee injury. The report at the team’s official website, as of this posting, does not yet contain that information. Lawrence suffered the knee injury in Week 6, against the Colts. He was listed on the report for both Week 7 and Week 8. He was not listed for Week 9 or, until now, Week 10. It’s unclear whether the Jaguars will face a fine or any other sanction for the failure to continue to disclose the knee injury. If the end result is simple a Mulligan, that hardly incentivizes other teams to comply with the rules.
Ryan Tannehill denies he asked for his release from Titans A social media post from someone claiming to work for ESPN, but doesn’t, went viral, claiming that Ryan Tannehill had requested his release. Tannehill confirmed Friday that it is not true. “No, there’s been no talks with [Mike] Vrabel or anything like that,” Tannehill said, via video from Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com. Tannehill is aware of the false report. “I was kind of caught off guard by those reports as well,” he said. “Obviously, I have a desire to play, but still don’t know what that looks like at this point.” Since the trade deadline has passed, Tannehill would have to clear waivers to sign with the team of his choice. He is in the final year of his contract with a $27 million base salary and a $36.6 million cap hit. He now is the backup in Tennessee to rookie Will Levis but has not been active since Week 6 when he injured his ankle. Tannehill, though, was a full participant in Thursday’s practice, and is expected to back up Levis on Sunday. Tannehill said his high-ankle sprain is “getting close” to being healed. “It’s tough to say exactly [how close], but a lot closer than I was last week, so we’re heading in the right direction,” Tannehill said.
Report: Browns won’t sign Joe Flacco immediately The Browns worked out free agent quarterback Joe Flacco on Friday. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, though, reports that the Browns will not sign Flacco today. It makes sense given Flacco wouldn’t be involved in the Week 11 game plan anyway. “So, Flacco will head home and both sides can assess,” Fowler wrote. The Browns will sign a third quarterback to go with Dorian Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker in the quarterbacks room. Thompson-Robinson will start Sunday. Flacco made four starts for the Jets last season and went 110-of-191 for 1,051 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.
Flacco may be getting a call from the Bengals as well. RG3 has reportedly thrown his name.out there for the Browns.
Good eye. I finally found a new page containing all the 2023 Helmets. Them old ones were lame. It took forever to find something that actually had the updated Commanders helmet and the new logos and styles for all the rest of the teams. Once I saved the image of all 32, I did an individual snip&sketch for each helmet and saved them all in a specific file. Now I just do a simple copy/past and drop them anywhere. Why? because.
That's interesting. On McAfee Thursday he never mentioned termination pay and spoke as if the Browns would put in a claim for Tannehill. Now he's making more sense. Maybe he's a L4SN reader?
The list of injured quarterbacks keeps growing and growing Through little more than half of the season, six starters have had season-ending injuries: Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (who could come back, but likely won’t), Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. That’s 18.75 percent of the league’s starters, gone and not coming back this season. The Jets had high hopes and many standalone games, none of which have been flexed. The next one — the much-hyped Black Friday game on Amazon vs. the Dolphins — can’t be flexed. The Vikings, Colts, Browns, and Bengals are all contenders. Whether they qualify for the playoffs will depend on the performance of their backups, or the ability of the rest of the team to overcome the performance of their backups. (The Colts have the most accomplished of the bunch, in Gardner Minshew.) Other quarterbacks have missed game time due to injury: Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle), Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion, back), Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb), Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (ankle), Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder (sort of), Saints quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder, concussion), Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (thumb), and Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (knee). Others have been banged up, without missing games: Bills quarterback Josh Allen (shoulder), Patriots quarterback Mac Jones (X-ray room after Week 10 loss), Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett (ribs, knee), Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (ankle injury on Thursday night), Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (knee injury Week 6), Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud (early season shoulder issue), Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (broken middle finger on non-throwing hand), Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (hand), Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (who was never on the injury report but clearly had/has a knee injury), Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (finger injury at 49ers), Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder, knee), and 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion). Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray missed nine games this season due to a torn ACL from last year. Various backups have gotten injured, once their opportunity arose. Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor had a rib-cage injury that put him in the hospital. Falcons quarterback Taylor Heinicke exited last Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals with a hamstring injury. Titans quarterback Will Levis has a foot injury. Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall suffered a concussion on the first drive of his first start. And current Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito has left shoulder and knee injuries. Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs currently has an ankle injury. Here are the quarterbacks who have been, by all appearances, fully healthy this year: Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, Commanders quarterback Sam Howell, Lions quarterback Jared Goff, and Packers quarterback Jordan Love. That’s five. Out of 32. The most amazing name on that list is Tua. He’s the one player who had the biggest questions regarding durability entering the season. And he’s one of only five who haven’t been on the injury report all year. Eight weeks remain in the regular season, minus the Thursday night game that saw Burrow’s season end and Jackson injure an ankle. It’s possible that the chase for the Lombardi Trophy could end up being, in large part, a war of attrition. in part; PFT _______ _____________ Amazing stuff. I dont recall anything like it. Meanwhile, we still have some ol' FA vets out there without a job.
