The Jets waived running back Michael Carter on Tuesday, the team announced.

His release clears the way for rookie Izzy Abanikanda, a fifth-round pick who has yet to play.

Carter played nine games this season, seeing action on 142 offensive snaps and 11 on special teams. He had eight carries for 38 yards and 15 receptions for 68 yards.

The Jets made Carter a fourth-round pick in 2021, and he played 39 games with 21 starts in 2 1/2 seasons in New York. In his career, Carter has 361 touches for 1,760 yards and seven touchdowns.

 

Whoa, McDermott is as good as gone now, based on the last time you said something along those lines, lol. Raiders comes to mind.

 

Browns running back Nick Chubb underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the team announced.

It was his second scheduled surgery on the knee.

Dr. James Voos, the team’s head physician, performed the surgery at University Hospitals Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute.

“Dr. Voos considered today’s surgery successful and added that Nick’s recovery has progressed very well following his first surgery in late September,” the Browns said in a statement. “As previously announced, the estimated recovery time from these surgeries indicates that Nick would be able to return to play during the 2024 season.”

Aidan Hutchinson: Justin Herbert is a baller, delivered passes on target while I hit him

The Lions beat the Chargers on Sunday, but they didn’t shut down quarterback Justin Herbert.

Herbert was excellent in the Lions’ 41-38 win, completing 27 of 40 passes for 323 yards with four touchdowns. And he was never sacked, no matter how hard Lions pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson tried. Hutchinson said after the game that he was amazed with how well Herbert could throw the ball even as Hutchinson hit him.

“That guy’s a baller, man. I mean, he threw one -- I hit him going out of bounds from the sideline,” Hutchinson said, via MLive.com. “ I thought he held the ball. I didn’t know he threw it, then he got back up and was like, ‘let’s freaking go!’ And I was like, ‘did he complete that thing?’ I was like, ‘what the hell?’”

Hutchinson said he doesn’t know exactly why the Lions struggled so much with Herbert.

“I don’t know. I don’t know,” Hutchinson said. “It was just -- like we were getting dinked and dunked, you know. And then they go tempo and then it’s just -- we got to get them behind the sticks on first down.”

Just for clarity's sake - I'm not saying he's about to be hooked.

I do think he is a candidate to get canned if the Bills slide off of the edge, and the potential for that may be higher than what it appears to be.

 

They have a tough schedule coming up too. Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers, Dolphins and a few other games, but if they fail to make even a WC, watch out.

 

FWIW - ESPN analytics only gives the Bills a 33% chance of making the Playoffs.

Some of the chatter going around the www on prominent sports sites think McDermott threw Dorsey under the bus to save his own butt... stating that it was the play-calling directly from McDermott on defensive calls that lost that game to the Broncos. It was some interesting reading, but after further review, who really knows outside of McDermott?

Allen has always had turnover issues and has been a leader in INT's over the last 5 years and when some sites dissected the offensive numbers, Dorsey wasnt doing bad and even had better averages than when Daboll ran the show.

Bills had 12 men on the field on the FG attempt, giving them a second shot at the game winner... and the zero-blitz on Wilson backed up the Broncos, but then they tried it twice in a row and a downfield throw against a beaten Bills corner drew a pass interference flag, setting Denver up for a chance to win the game easily. These wernt plays that came from Dorsey some argued.

Anyway, just a little food for thought.

Honestly though, that sucks. That Ravens game could’ve been the confidence boost that began a big turnaround for his Browns career. The defense will win them games, so they still have a shot. Walker led them to a win over the 49ers so they are plenty dangerous

 

Looks like it will be DTR starting for the Browns this weekend

 

That would not surprise me.

My bigger concern is who will be playing at Tackle(s)?

 

Hopefully the same two that played in the first meeting, Steelers will need all the help they can get

There has got to be another QB signed for depth quickly. Somewhere there is a FA that can come in and provide at least depth. Berry or whoever pulls the strings, calls the shots, should have thought of this before now.
