My 'RO' this morning is this... Dak Prescott is an ass-hole. The one thing I do like about him was the redzone interception he threw yesterday... very Dakesque. This is a snipit from NFL.com - Adorned with flowers after beginning their season in such imposing fashion, the Cowboys crashed down to the any-given-Sunday reality of the NFL with their 28-16 loss to the previously winless Arizona Cardinals. "Y'all put us on top of the world," said Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, who was 25 of 40 for 249 yards, a touchdown and a critical interception. "We knew who we are. In that same sense, I'm sure the media got what it wanted. For us, there hadn't been but one undefeated team. It sucks, it's humbling, but to say it's a wake-up call, we knew we had a lot of adversity and we just didn't get it done. It just goes back to myself, the offense, in the red zone. We get better there, we win this game. But we've got to fix that area, period." Really Dak? The media put Y'all on top of the world?, well boo hoo... thats a blame game IMO. "Humbling", because you lost to the Cardinals is disrespectful to the Cards.
I’m not a fan of Prescott. However, I think this is twisted for headlines. The way I read this is, they have confidence in their abilities, but at the same time understand the level of competition the NFL has. When it’s only been done once in the history of the league, they weren’t naive to be thinking they would be the second this early in the season, that was a media driven thing and now the media gets something better to write, their demise. I agree with him. The media creates situations for entertainment value, then asks players questions as if it were reality.
Been carrying on a conversation about the Bears... The simple take is - With Flus at the helm, this team is fucked. There is enough talent to be competitive (not enough to be a division topper), but the Bears look far from it on game day. Can it get worse? Depends on the direction this thing is headed, but the unfortunate answer is - yes My fear with Nagy, at what had become the obvious end of his tenure, would be that he would draft a young quarterback as an insurance policy to keep his job. He selected Justin Fields, and then was summarily shit canned at the end of the season. Now, the same player Nagy drafted to save his career could very well be scapegoated by Eberflus to save his job, end up traded to another team, while Flus and Co. draft Caleb Williams in an effort to save their jobs. Same story, different coaches, and likely the same outcome if the outgoing (bound to be by the end of 2024) Eberflus is replaced by another defensive minded coach that cannot develop a young passer. Maybe Caleb can overcome the circumstances he will be damned into, but the other side of the coin would be Fields going to a team that can get the best out of him and he becomes a franchise player in another uniform. Doom and gloom, I know... But this seems more like an odds-on kind of thing than any other scenario, at the moment.
Fields had a hard time trying to play at Georgia because that’s a defensive team like the Bears, he needs to play for a team like the 49ers or Miami where the coach can make the offense friendly for him.
Lawrence had some luck on his side with that pass to Ridley, but the result was a 30 yard TD to Riddley.
Damn, Ridder had Robinson wide open straight up the middle on that 3rd down, but the center was manhandled in a big way and it distracted Ridder. Hope he settles down and reads/reacts quicker... players are getting open early.
Nice confidence builder for Ridder and the offense. Needed that opening drive to click to start the 2nd half desperately.
Falcon defense getting good pressure now. Incidentally, the Falcons defense is ranked #7 overall in the NFL... they have come a long way in a short time.
Nearly every play when the Falcons are on defense, #53 Landman is in on the action... impressive player, first Ive seen him.
I made a comment somewhere on this site that the Bills and Dolphins game was the big game of the week. Im thinking the Browns and Ravens is right up there as well.
