Just curious is it just the NFL that's scripted or is baseball and basketball scripted as well? Is it only pros or college too?

Pretty evident you believe every game is predetermined so do they just decide who will win or do they try to get a certain amount of points? Do they put in back up plans in the event of an major injury or are there no injuries? Is it like the wrestling in the 80s every time Hulk Hogan need a vacation his spleen was lacerated? If so that explains how Rod Woodson was able to come back from his knee injury quicker than anyone had before.

NFL wrote a weird script for week 1

 

Some week 1 thoughts...

I'll start with the Browns. I thought Cleveland played a pretty complete game for a team that is still establishing an identity on both sides of the ball. If they can create early season momentum, then the potential is there for a chance to compete with Baltimore and Cincinnati for the division in the final weeks of the season. Baltimore will likely be the team to beat down the stretch, but Cincy is going to be in the mix when the games start taking on a playoff feel near the close of the regular season.

The Steelers may rebound this week on Monday night, but I have a feeling the loss of Cam Heyward is going to be more than a gut punch to that defense. Quick side note - I really wanted a couple of teams to bring in Carlton Martial (Troy) as a conversion to safety. PIT was one of those teams, and I think he would have had a shot at making that roster on the backend.

The entire Bears coaching staff should be drawn and quartered. Just fucking pathetic all the way around. Love should have been under duress the entire game, but apparently rushing 4 and dropping 7 was the preferred defense on the day...

Chicago has enough talent to compete in the North, but they are going to shit the bed too many Sundays with the clown show they have running things.

Speaking of coaching staffs that are going to fuck over talented rosters - Anybody catch that Chargers fiasco? Miami decided not to let Herbert shoot rockets all day, so Kelley got to cameo as a starting tailback for a week. Meanwhile, the Chargers had no answer for the cheat code that the Dolphins slapped on Tyreek Hill. Staley is going to piss away another season, and Moore is going to get a chance to be a head coach in 2024 for a team that is looking to bring in an offensive mind to run the operation.

Denver was immediately trashed by a lot of the media following week 1, but the foundation looks there for a big turnaround by the Broncos. Unfortunately, it ain't happening in year 1 of the Payton regime. Denver is going to need an offseason to go after some playmakers on offense before they are ready to compete with the other two competitive teams in the division. That number could be 3, if the Raiders would decide to fire the head coach sooner rather than later...

The Vikings are going to be an up and down team all season. Too much talent to fail on the regular, too many simple fuck ups to win consistently...

Baker's bandwagon has filled back up again. Couple weeks from now, same people will say 'I wasn't stanning that dude!'...

The Cowboys defense looked really nasty against a quarterback that should be playing on the non-exclusive tag this season...

The Giants fucked themselves when they decided to give the bag to Jones instead of Barkley. I've said it more than once, and I'll say it again, just because I own the place - Jones should have gotten the non-exclusive tag. If somebody was willing to offer a pair of ones for him, cool. Let him walk, let Daboll look to build the roster and tap his own arm for the weapons locker. Give Barkley a 3-year deal that would have made him the highest paid back (not a lot more than what they ended up giving him) and know that you have some continuity while looking for your franchise passer. The decision to pay Jones may ultimately be the reason that Daboll ends up with packed bags and a bright future in another city.

Did anybody watch the shitshow of WAS vs ARI? Straight up migraine material... Neither of these clubs are close to competing with the frontrunners in their own divisions.

I thought the Pats played well against the Eagles, and if this game were played a few weeks from now... Be interesting to see what O'Brien ultimately does with that offense.

The NFC South is going to come down to the Saints and Falcons. If you have to put your money on Carr or Ridder to get it done, who you taking?

Anthony Richardson was solid, and his efficiency is going to keep a few people hushed up for at least a week.

If the Jaguars dismantle the Chiefs at home this week, then my gut is going to feel good about that Jaguars/Dolphins AFC Championship match-up.

San Francisco, Dallas, Philly and... Detroit? Yep, I think that's the 4 monsters in the NFC that are going to storm it out for the chance to play in the Super bowl.

I posted in the offseason that my long shot SB match-up is DET vs JAC.

Too me it was one flukey kinda start to the season. Some teams looked like they were still in preseason mode. One coach, cant remember who, said they are going to reconsider how they handle their preseason next year and get the starters more reps and work on timing/execution to avoid the sloppy rusty stuff... I hope Minnesota learns from not giving Cousins a single snap, because it showed.

And was it just me or was the highly hyped Dak and the Boys offense stale? They really didnt do anything to glorious.

I picked them (Jags) all the way this weekend, not sure what to think of an offense that cant run the ball or WR's that arnt exactly studs dropping stuff from Mahomes. I think the Chiefs will right the ship, but not in FLA.

My nightmare starts tonight in Philadelphia, Im already loathing week 2.

BTW - Lions do look good, actually scarry good and I couldnt agree more on your assessment of the Bears.

For my money Casamigos reposito is a great tequila. Don’t always have to pay the highest dollar to get higher quality.
