Jeremy Fowler is great! He said the Browns made the best move of 2023 by signing Dalvin Tomlinson.. seriously though. ESPN has so many "insiders" that they just take writers and put them on shows nowadays and call them that. This kid has been around for less than a decade on the national scene, I'm not sure I would trust his sources. It's guys like this that make shit up for click bait in order to further their careers and call it a source. Obviously we'll never know, no one is giving up their sources and no source is ever going to out themselves in front of their bosses. But, I have a tough time believing there are literally HUNDREDS of "reporters" that spew info on the internet and carry over to shows on ESPN etc., that all have sources feeding them regular information to keep them relevant. I'm not sure how sources are paid, but this guy can't make enough as a weekend ESPN reporter to keep his informants paid adequately. If it were relevant information, it would have been put out as a smoke screen to put the attention on another player so that the player they really want could drop further.

Regardless, I've done enough ranting for the day on the subject, sorry to anyone I ruffled, if I did at all.

Sorry, I'm feeling a little crass today for some reason, I don't mean anything by it. It's just that Robinson to me is one of the players that stands out more than any I have seen since Barkley. I can't see any person that would evaluate Gibbs above Robinson.

LOL, no, not at all. It just seems like I am picking apart a lot of posters today and that isn't my intention...

I didn't get that impression, so no worries.

Regardless of your opinion on Fowler (don't follow his work enough to have one), we do know for sure that the Lions we're looking to take Gibbs at #6 if no trade materializes. That means they had him rated over Bijan, who would have been available at that pick.

I don't really see it as all that crazy for multiple teams to prefer Jahmyr.

I would have to go back and look, but I do believe there were sources citing teams that had Robert Griffin III above Andrew Luck, so BPA is something that is gonna always be an 'in-the-eye-of-the-beholder', or in this case 'pick number', kind of deal.

I never for one instant detracted that from any of your post's. You have been doing quite well in your posting throughout and I especially like the one about Bijan with the stats in comparison to Gibbs.

So, quit being so nice and get a growl on... you are Dawg afterall!!!!!!

Gonna roll this out just for the fuck of it...

Caleb Williams will be the 2024 starting quarterback of the Washington To Be Named at a Later Date.

I’ve seen this take a couple times.
Is the current Commanders roster that bad?
I know there’s no Lawrence or Burrow at QB. But Rivera/Bieniemy don’t strike me as a duo trying to fold

They probably lose, at minimum, 4 out of 6 division games.

They play the AFC East, so they're likely looking at 3, if not 4 losses there.

They play the NFC West, so they're likely looking at 3, if not 4 losses there.

They have the Falcons, Bears and Broncos on the schedule to round it out, so depending on the H/A split I could see them dropping two games there.

That sets the O/U at 5.5 wins, IMO, which is one full game lower than what Vegas has.

And that Vegas 6.5 is the lowest of any team going into this season.

Do we want to talk about that or the fact the Cardinals will most likely be the Texans of the 2024 draft? Who do you take with two top ten picks (most likely top 5) when you already have what is considered a franchise QB? Or... Will the Texans improve enough after one off season to push their pick to the Cardinals way down the draft board?

It's fun to talk about next year's draft at this time of year, but the Caleb Williams of the world can disappear quickly with the emergence of an unknown name that takes the nation by storm. Just as big of a question is, are the Trojans back for real or was it a one year wonder?

The other thing is... Do you have the Washington team being so bad they get the #1 overall? They are never very good, but at the same time, they never seem to suck enough to get in position to help themselves in the draft.

Here's what I put to RT:
"They probably lose, at minimum, 4 out of 6 division games.

They play the AFC East, so they're likely looking at 3, if not 4 losses there.

They play the NFC West, so they're likely looking at 3, if not 4 losses there.

They'll have the draft capital, thanks to the trade, no arguing that point.

I'd put there O/U at probably 2 full games ahead of Washington, but it will largely depend on Kyler's health. Their schedules have a lot of similarities, but Arizona has the downside, or upside, of a new head coach. We gotta see how that one plays out. However, I have a feeling that there is going to be less instability within the locker room, more stability on defense and an opportunity to let the offense find an actual identity.

I don't think they're going to light the world on fire, but I think they may be an interesting surprise this season.

Really tough to speculate how much the Texans are going to improve, considering the division they're in. Tennessee looks to be slowly in decline, the Colts have a new HC and QB, with the Jags being the obvious favorite. Throw in Ryan's first swing at the top spot and Houston could look spectacular with simply going .500.

How do you see it playing out? Obviously, we have a lot of time to change our minds before the season starts. I'm just curious on your thoughts, since I know you have followed Stroud throughout his time in Ohio.

Lot's of truth in your sentiment, but I think Williams is likely going to be locked in like Trevor Lawrence was the year prior to his ascension. Maye may edge him out by next May (puntastic stuff), but I think Williams is going to be viewed as the #1 overall on just about every board by the time the 2024 draft rolls around.

    Nope, no way, no how!

Seriously, the Texans are such a dumpster fire, it's hard to imagine a QB and special defensive player will turn around a team in one season. I still see them as a top 5 pick in the 2024 draft (going to the Cardinals of course). All rookie QBs struggle. Stroud will be no different. I'll put the Texans O/U at about 3 games and leave it at that.

Im guessing, C.Williams #1 and watch #2 go to Marvin Harrison Jr. And talking next years top prospects, Drake Maye has to be included also. We may have a QB happy top of the Draft thing again.

Likely going to be the consensus #1 non-passer available.

  18. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

Just saw that Colin Cowherd listed his top 10 NFC teams today. Carolina was his "big surprise" at #10 in the conference (not overall, just the NFC).

Ummm... the #11 seed in the NFC last year moves up to #10 in his rankings, and THAT is his big surprise entry on his list?

    Sheer genius.

    Getting back to this...

I revert back to they are never very good, yet always seem to have just good enough of a season to not be in position. RGIII/Cousins draft was really the only time they were in position, wasn't it? I could be wrong on that, but it seems like they are always just shy of the top 10 mark.

    *AFC East:
Bills, I agree, just too tough. Bills probably only lose 5 games or less all season.
Dolphins, Patriots and Jets are all very beatable. If the Redskins get the Jets early in the season, Rodgers may not even be in sync with his new receivers yet enough to be the difference maker.

    *NFC West:
Who is the QB in San Fran when they play them?
Rams and Cardinals are a burning dumpster at the moment, both have franchise QBs, but neither can stay healthy and they have little around them
Seahawks, well, if Geno Smith continues the way he has.. they are still on even par with the Redskins

Falcons, Bears, Broncos... unless something drastic changed from last season (regardless of the rookie draft), these teams were worse than the Redskins in 2022
To go with that, the worst part of their 2023 schedule, imho, is their own division. That's where I see 4-6 losses coming in, I agree, even though they only had 3 in 2022.

This team should probably be at an O/U of 7.5, not 5.5 imo, which as you stated, is a game OVER what Vegas currently has.

I am hard pressed to believe there aren't at least 4-5 teams that will have at most 5 win seasons. Last year was one of the most even seasons of recent memory and the Redskins 8 wins got them the #11 overall pick, one less win would have given them at best the #8 overall pick. I don't see any of their free agent losses as game changing.

I expect the Rams, Patriots, Colts, Texans, Panthers, Raiders, Broncos to be vying for the top spots in the draft.. I also think the 49ers got worse this off season.

    This is a cool story...

Texans rookie receiver Tank Dell says C.J. Stroud asked the team to draft him

In the third round of the 2023 NFL draft, the Texans selected wide receiver Nathaniel “Tank” Dell, and Dell says he has C.J. Stroud to thank.

The Texans selected Stroud with the second overall pick in the draft, and Dell says that after Stroud was selected, he told the Texans how impressed he was by Dell when Stroud threw passes to Dell at the Scouting Combine. The Texans listened.

“Right after the Combine we were texting each other,” Dell said, via Chandler Johnson of KPRC. “He talked to me after the Combine, he said ‘I like how you run routes, I like how you play football’ he said he had been watching me and stuff like that. I told him vice versa and I appreciated him. After he got drafted, I sent him congrats and I told him, ‘Tell them come get me.’ He was like, ‘I got you. Trust me.’ The next day, he FaceTimed me out of nowhere. I texted him and he FaceTimed me, and he was like, ‘I told them I want you.’ So I was like, OK, it could happen. And then I got that call.”

Dell played his college football at Houston and topped 1,300 receiving yards each of the last two years, so the Texans were obviously well aware of his talents even before hearing from Stroud. But it doesn’t hurt when the franchise quarterback wants you, and Dell thinks Stroud putting in a good word for him may have put him over the top.
