The Chargers get their man, who's unemployment didn't last long, in Kellen Moore. From 2019 - 2022, Moore was the offensive coordinator and play-caller for Dallas. The offense ranked #1, #14 (in Dak's injury season), #4, and #1 in yards during that time. They were 6th, 17th, 1st, and 4th, respectively, in offensive points scored. While Moore won't have the same supporting cast with offensive skill players, he does get a pretty major upgrade in QB talent moving from Dak to Justin Herbert. After shaking the McVey tree pretty hard (no doubt looking to improve play-action passing) and GM Tom Telesco expressing a desire to pick up something from the Shannahan tree, they go with a guy who's honestly, system-agnostic. Tough to pin down what system Moore actually employs but we'll see if that lack of an identity works in his favor or not. Based on his last four years, the Charges should get a pretty sizeable boost in offensive output.
Renaldo Hill leaving Chargers to join Dolphins; Chargers plan to promote Derrick Ansley to DC The Chargers hired a new offensive coordinator recently and they’ll have a new defensive coordinator in 2023 as well. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Renaldo Hill is leaving his post as the Chargers defensive coordinator in order to join the Dolphins coaching staff. Hill will be the defensive pass game coordinator in Miami. Hill worked for Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for two years when Fangio was the head coach in Denver before going to the Chargers when Brandon Staley, who also worked under Fangio, became their head coach. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Chargers plan to promote Derrick Ansley to defensive coordinator. He has been the defensive backs coach for the last two seasons and has coordinator experience from his time at the University of Tennessee. Assistant defensive backs coach Tommy Donatell is expected to become the secondary coach and pass game coordinator in another move. The Chargers hired Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator after firing Joe Lombardi, so Staley’s staff will have new voices leading on both sides of the ball. PFT
@SAS I see from your profile your from CBUS Ohio, cool... are you in LA now or just a fan of that cities football teams?
I wonder that as well Will and asked SAS that same question last year. He has bailed on the Cleveland Browns and transferred his loyalty to the LA Football Teams. Kind of looking like SAS is more of a Chargers Fan than a Rams Fan ?.....but it is cool that he cheers for both.
Hey @Willie! Still in Columbus, long-time Ohioan. I gave up my Browns fandom March 18, 2022 because some things are bigger than football. After an exhaustive free agency period, I landed with the Los Angeles Chargers. There was certain grading criteria I had to put into my new team search, and obviously teams were ruled out right away. I also didn't want to jump immediately to a "bandwagon" team like the Bills or Chiefs, as tempting as that was. I root for the Chargers but have the Rams in there for Baker. It is fun getting to share a stadium, though!
Just curios, thanks for the response. I was born in California, but been in Toledo since 1966ish. Ima Red Wings fan and a Tigers fan all my life, but the Vikings have been my first love since I saw them play the Rams back in the black n white TV days with a coat hanger on the set, lol. People sometimes ask me why Im a Vikings fan and Im in Ohio? I dont understand the logic to the question... we can like who we like for whatever reason.
SAS.........been that Football season is over do you follow Hockey ? NHL Columbus Blue Jackets are in the running for the Conner Bedard sweepstakes.....this Kid is the next Wayne Gretzky. And the Blue Jackets have Jirieck as a prospect and he is going to be an Excellent D-Man....just in case you get bored in the Football off season look into cheering for the Blue Jackets.
I don't follow other sports well at all, but being in Columbus, we try to get in at least 1-2 games a season. You can usually get really decent-priced tickets and it's always a good time down at Nationwide! I'll have to keep an eye out for those names!
