Yesterday the Bears signed guard Michael Schofield and today they signed veteran tackle Riley Reiff. So going into camp the line looks something like.... LT - Riley Reiff LG - Cody Whitehair C - Lucas Patrick RG - Michael Schofield RT - Teven Jenkins/Larry Borom/Braxton Jones Maybe Jenkins or Borom get moved inside to guard...coaches seem high on Jones so far. Schofield is good in pass pro....and if Reiff is healthy he will be better than average at left tackle. It's not spectacular but it's better than where we were this time last season.
I would agree with this. It was very relieving to see both signings, after a full off-season of wondering how this OL was going to keep Fields alive through the season. Presuming both guys are healthy, they'll likely be starters, and just having some more NFL-level players in the building is that much better. I know that they dropped Jenkins to 2nd strong in earlier camps, so he's not the front runner for a spot at the moment. We'll see how things shake out in full camps, now.
Yeah, what the hell happened there? As to the line, yeah, we're not calling in someone from retirement, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Anyone going to camp to see how they are doing? Pads are on Tuesday I think.
And why the fuck hasn't he even been at camp yet? COVID? Another injury? Those are my two guesses based on what Flus had to say.
Hello everyone. It’s been a long boring offseason. I am personally taking an Ill believe it when I see it mentality when it comes to the new regime. I don’t know why but there has been talks of trade interest for Jenkins. Let’s remember Poles and company did not draft the kid so they are less attached.
They might know whether or not A) he'll be available to play for this team B) he's capable of playing for this team He got moved to second string before more injury reports surfaced with his absences. So it might be that he fails in both availability and capability. It would be incredibly disappointing, to say the least. But if the doesn't think he's part of the future, and they can get something for him... All that is to say, I also don't like depleting depth from the OL.
