I'm probably not even paying the $200 to watch, this year. I still care about the team, I'm just tired of paying to watch a few games at the start of the season in order to feel bad my whole Sunday. Got a baby on the way, inflation and housing costs are stupid... The Bears have gotten my money for years without deserving it. I'm optimistic about the new staff. I just don't see how they've upgraded this offense enough to help Fields succeed, and / or how they've improved this team enough overall to not be another bottom of the barrel team. Looking at the schedule, I can see maybe 5-ish wins. This is a long term rebuild. I might just take the first year of that rebuild off. I still check in here daily and follow the team, so I'm up for all the talk here. Just not sure I'm going to have much meaningful to say this season.
I am not paying this year either, but that's because I found "secret" streams. DM me if interested in how to find it. As for the chat, I agree with dline in that we made maybe modest upgrades, but this year definitely feels like a wash. We didn't upgrade the offense much, if at all, and the defense is doing a complete switchover to the 4-3. It honestly feels like we're about to get Lovie 2.0 for the next few years. And I mean that in a good way, that maybe we'll beat the goddamn Packers 2-3 years from now. But this year? Oof. I haven't looked at the schedule, but I will be watching for any development from Fields despite the subpar supporting cast, and how the D handles the transition, and how the coaches acquit themselves with the dearth of talent. Pace left the cupboard bare, especially for what Poles wants to do. Now it's up to Poles to rebuild. To be honest, I will be terrified if next year he pulls out all the stops and does a Khalil Mack-esque trade like Pace did, thinking the team was ready.
For me this year isn't a wash because I want to see what Fields can do with a full offseason of being #1. The schedule is honestly weak. I absolutely love the kids they drafted to play in the secondary. I don't expect a great year by any means but I think it will be better than most expect.
Thank you @Lyman ! That's so kind of you! Personally, I can't believe that I've made it this far. ha ha Congratulations on your upcoming @dlinebass5 that's amazing news!! And I'm going to be a grandmother next fall!
Congrats, raise him to be a QB, and hope the Bears don't draft him. I don't believe he would, he seems to value those picks more than Pace did, and he seems to be way more patient. Happy 29th Birthday Babyfan! What is it now the 29th year in a row?
LOL ya bastard! Nope, I turned 65 and am proud of it. My mother used to always yell at me and say, "You'll never see 40, 50, 60 or 65 (or whatever number suited her)". Well, guess who's dead and who's still strutting around like she owns the place. ME! Thanks, tuna. How are things going?
Wow! So it was actually the 36th year of being 29. Well now, this actually explains some things, no wonder this world is so fucked up we were born in the same month of the same year. Going to be a busy weekend and week. Tomorrow we have a service at the Forgotten Warrior Memorial in Channahon honoring 8 veterans who left the battlefield only to lose their battle with PTSD here at home. Sunday K9 training with the veterans to keep them off the wall, and then Monday my girl and I and three dogs are going down south to my house in Georgia and spend the week.
So what is your birthday date? That totally makes sense that we are birthday twins! Lovelovelove the 'my girl'. I hope it's a blast Tuna!! How heartbreaking that these vets have lost their battles. Godamn that's hard to read.
31st. It sucks because while K9s is more localized to the Chicagoland area we have people that put in apps from all over the country. What is heartbreaking is we can't help these people with our program. What is heartbreaking is when I have the conversation explaining that fact they many times feel defeated. In some circumstances, if I feel that they need immediate help I will try and research organizations in their area and pass it along. What is heartbreaking the VA has failed so many of our veterans time after time.
