I got the following: - one fanbase saying "we'll get them back in two weeks" - **blaming the refs** - "see, I told you Lamar/Baker was better than Baker/Lamar and this win proves it" - someone saying the season is over - someone saying the winning team is a lock for the division crown - another fan blaming injuries - a specific Browns fan (we all know who) saying "how could we lose to a RB at QB" in a loss and "I told you all he's a RB playing QB" in a win even if Lamar throws 400 yarda, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs in either scenario - at least 1 fan from both the winning and losing fanbase will guarantee a sweep - a sloppy game overall - Chris Collingsworth annoying TF out of most viewers with his commentary Y'all taking the over or under on me getting 80% of this right?
In terms of the actual game, I'll say the team with the run defense that plays best will win........unless Lamar misses the game with whatever illness he has. If he doesn't play Cleveland wins easy
Wow... That's about spot on, so I'm taking the over. I don't care which side you are on.. This resonates. AS for the original question and any personal thoughts, I have given up on trying to figure out where this team is in it's growth. I'm just waiting for game time to root them on and hope for a W. I could give a shit whether we win by 1 or 100, I want wins to accumulate, ugly is just as good as pretty, they all spend the same.
I think both teams had this one circled on the schedule before the season started....Huge AFCN game. Should be a wild night.
Ngl... fully expecting to get boat-raced by Baltimore this week. Baker's at what... 30% capability right now with all his injuries? He should have been shut down against Detroit to give him time to rest (more on that in the 2022 thread) but it is what it is. Joe Woods is completely incapable of stopping Lamar Jackson. I've seen more than enough to fire him immediately already this season. Several teams have already caught up to the Baltimore offense and shown the blueprint for how to shut it down. Joe Woods is not one of those people. If Woods sells out to stop Lamar's running game, he'll completely annihilate us in the passing game. If, instead, he tries to take away the deep ball, Lamar will covert third-down after third-down with his legs. My only real hope for this weekend is it's finally Joe Woods' last game with the team. Sorry I don't have a rosier outlook, but I simply don't see us stopping Baltimore on defense and our offense looks so dysfunctional that scoring is going to be intermittent at best.
Me too.. geez. My dad would applaud everything you said. lol! I don't. I'm not there yet. (see me late Sunday).... I'm sure the comments are just, but ya lost me after "boat race". Browns 24 Ravens 20
According to his stats, he was about 75% for the Detroit game, which wasn't far off from what Keenum does healthy. For what it's worth Baker had a better completion % against the Lions than Lamar did. I know... I'm reaching... Baker did say there were no setbacks from Detroit and he expects to feel better vs. the Ravens.. I was thinking before the season started, it would have been nice to be home for the first game, then two weeks to prep for BMore, but after the boo birds were flying, WHILE THEY WERE WINNING, last week.. I am kind of glad it is away this week. They need to have support when they are at home. This isn't the 0 fer teams of the past. They are fighting for a playoff spot. It sickens me that the crowd was booing them.
So that was easily Baker's worst game of the season... I truly hope it was closer to his 30% than his 75%. And you're not reaching either, friend... Detroit isn't as bad as that record indicates -- especially on defense. Lamar and the Ravens needed an NFL record field goal to beat them. They've just hit on some rotten luck -- they've lost three games by a combined 7 points, played Pittsburgh to a tie, lost to San Fran by a score, and had the lead against the Rams heading into the fourth quarter. They're a bit more luck away from being 5-5 or even 6-4 than the depressing 0-9-1 record they have.
Hunt is back, so is Conklin and Mayfield is practicing today and will start Sunday. I like the Browns chances if they can pound/run the football.
It's going to come down to which ever defense is able to stop that pound/run! We need Clowney to step up and be that run stopper that he is being payed to be.
When Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield met with reporters before practice on Wednesday, he said he would be taking part in the team’s session despite the multiple injuries he’s been dealing with in recent weeks. As it turns out, Mayfield didn’t get on the field. Mayfield wasn’t dressed to work during the portion of the practice open to the media and was officially listed as out of practice on the team’s injury report. Mayfield also told reporters that he expects to play against the Ravens this weekend. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said earlier this week that Mayfield will start as long as his left shoulder, knee, and foot injuries left him well enough to play. Defensive tackle Malik Jackson (knee), wide receiver Jarvis Landry (knee), wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin), wide receiver Anthony Schwartz (concussion), and Tony Fields II (illness) were also out of practice Wednesday. Having this duo back together should help immensely, especially with Conklin returning to the line-up.
We are at the season's crossroad. Win and the light comes on. Lose and spend two weeks facing a sweep, and the end of our season. So...... no worries mon. One thing for certain, this is Baker's team. They will rise or fall on his play, can't win without it. Clearly Stephanski & Co. are far better informed than we are relative to Baker's ability to play vs Keenum, and have steadfastly put Baker first. I gotta believe in their judgement. I'm pretty sure they will not put the game on Mayfield in the game plan, but we're still going to need some passing success or we're cooked. Keenum for his part has to be ready to go, because Baker is just one hit away from truly being out. Getting the CHunt backfield back is great, but DPJ being iffy is more pertinent for the pass game, and while i like what he offers as a wide out, his lack of availability has hurt. It hurts our ability to stretch the field and DPJ's ability to progress in this O. There are no more gimmees the rest of the year, and it's put up or shut up time. Can Baker answer the bell? I certainly don't know, but I'm a fan who's hopes for this to be "our season", is hanging by a thread, or maybe a labrum (who knew what a labrum was before week 4). We simply aren't going to see the Baker from the back half of last year. He's not coming back til 2022. That's a fact, but is this diminished Baker enough?
Game day personnel: Conklin is a big plus. He'll not only help keep Baker upright and more confident in the pocket, but help the run game and allow TE's to play offense. Hunt is also a big plus, giving us a reliable target in the passing game, and makes the D have to cover sideline to sideline. Defensively we are about as "whole" as we've been all year. I'm not sure about Tak, but he could be a factor too. DPJ is the one guy who I'm not sure if he's playing and if he is will he be 100%. We really need that threat to loosen up the D. In the end it comes down to Baker being able to make some plays and avoid turnovers. I suspect it will be a tight defensive battle, and I'm betting our guys will come to play. Lamar has been the kryptonite, but we aren't the same D he faced last year, and this might be the turn around game in this rivalry. Here's hoping Baker is a plus in this contest.
