Hey guys, long time no see. With today's cuts, we've seen a lot of people speculate that due to the smaller than usual number of CBs and OL being kept, that the team could make some moves in the next couple of days. Makes sense, by all means. What I do NOT understand is the lack of concern I've seen all over the place about the depth at ILB. Robert Spillane has regressed so awfully. Devin Bush looks like he is indeed coming back from a massive injury. (I know he's not a backup, but I just feel like it needs to be pointed out) Ulysees Gilbert III looked as bad or worse than Spillane at times. I honest to god hadn't seen anything about Miles Killebrew, whom I guess is listed as an ILB? (If anyone has insight about Killebrew, let me know, though I honest to god thought he was a SAFETY haha) Buddy Johnson, to my knowledge, hardly played. (Regardless, he was always safe on the 53 man roster) This is incredibly concerning. I guess I can understand there might be hope that Spillane simply has the yips? Sorry, I know I'm rambling. At least I feel really good about the OLB depth I guess.. (Super happy Marsh was finally cut, was hopeful Roche might have made it. Awesome Jones made it)
Memphis, don’t forget about the trade for Joe Schobert. I think Killebrew will be more of a special teamer or Dimebacker. Gilbert did better in coverage but needs to make the tackle. Don’t forget about Marcus Allen, he had a good summer but got hurt against the Panthers. Just my opinion.
Whatup Mex! Of course, I remembered the Joe Schobert trade! I didn't mention him because I think he is indeed a bright spot. The funny thing is other things I've found list Killebrew as a safety, so I'm going to agree on your statement about specifically him being a Dimebacker. That's the thing that worries me about Gilbert, is the the missed tackles! It's like if Gilbert and Spillane were combined, we'd have the perfect linebacker! xD I hope Marcus Allen has improved, because I still think he is undersized for ILB and last year he didn't look super. I just think that trading for another ILB would be wise! Or find someone from this week's cuts. SOMETHING!
You know I’m still worried about the tendency to leave ILB’s on WR’s. They kept doing it in the preseason games this year. If they can correct that I think I’d be more comfortable with the ILB left. The middle of the field will be our weakness. I think the rest of the defense will be great! Hopefully Bush gets back to early 2020 form sooner, rather than later.
