Cuts

While not a rule its common for 6th rounders to get at least a year on the team. They're 6th rounders, a period of development time is factored in to making a pick that late. Those picks have to look pretty damn bad for a team to give up on them after just one offseason. Especially Graham. How do you give up on a kid that quick in a CB room as bad as ours?

6th rounders looking so bad they dont even make the team once means they were horrific draft picks. Chalk up a couple more doozies for Pace. I agree with you, if Pace thinks he can get away with stashing on the PS he may get a nasty surprise, particularly in the case of Newsome. All it takes is one GM who liked him in the draft but missed out. Kinda like a more rational version of Khari Lee, who didnt get drafted a tall then Pace decided he had to trade a future 6th to get a guy just about to be cut. Fucking douche receptacle.

Thanks for putting that detailed breakdown up dline.

That is a pretty crazy 53 man roster. So we have 5WRs & 5 TE's. 7 ILBs and only 4 CB's. Hmmm, whats wrong with this picture?

Really surprised that both Pierce & Nall got cut. Pierce had a good PS and wasn't Nall a very solid STer?

Hambright being cut is correct, dude has no business being in the NFL. Wilkinson & Simmons are also pretty turd like. In the unlikely event that Pace lands someone worthwhile at OL from cuts then one of these two will be history.

5 TEs in of itself is just idiotic, but specifically how in the hell is JP Holtz still on this team? I actually thought he'd got covid and died.

Again, how can there be 7 ILBs and just 4 CBs? Just, how. Especially given the relative strength of those two positions. Pretty amazed Xavier Crawford made the team, pray he never plays on Defense. CB play could be historically bad this season.

Final thought, Cohen starts on the PUP list??? His ACL was early last season, he must be like 11months on already and now he's gone another 6weeks? These days guys can come back from that injury in 9-10months, Cohen will be over a year. This wasn't an achilles. Really makes me wonder if things have not gone smoothly with his rehab.

Despite this roster i have to hope there will be some changes/roster cut pickups. But not sure where. When Cohen & Edwards Jr come back there's 2 spots there. To me that = Holtz and an ILB. But that still doesnt give us an extra CB....

So right off the bat, I'd guess Teven Jenkins is going to be immediately moved to IR, opening up a spot. Nonvets put on IR prior to 53 man being set have to sit out the whole year, so that's why Jenkins is on the 53 man but will likely be moved to 6 week IR. Its also why a few local guys and pundits seem to think Trufant/Burns/Tabor/CB will come back, because of some loophole after all rosters/salary caps are set/compliant then moves can be made--including the ability to offer Trufant the same amount of money as in camp, except its nonguaranteed now that season has begun.

Nick Foles is another roster spot and its frustrating to even think about. Kinda shitty the bears are more interested in being classy then they are having a functional 53 man roster. Multiple teams apparently have engaged the bears about Foles and the bears even turned down a deal in spring because Foles didn't want to go wherever.

I don't know why you need Iggybuniwe AND Josh Woods AND Caleb Johnson AND Christian Jones for special teams and ILB depth when you have a solid 1-3 in Noquan, DT, and Ogletree, but I imagine if one were to go, an edge rusher will be added. Would like to see Snowden make the PS then develop further/put some weight on. An ideal project edge rusher.

Let's see how the PS develops.

I realize they will add at least 1 CB back to the roster today and might even sign someone from another teams roster cut but how do you put yourself in this position?

I don't understand the approach at all.

Brad Biggs is speculating that Trevathan will be placed on short term IR. That would be a part of the reason for keeping 7 ILBs.

Gonna be a lot of movement today. We know they won't end the day with 4 CBs. And probably add a WR. I assume.

Isaiah Coulter, Brian Johnson (Kicker), Charles Snowden, Thomas Graham to PS.

Bears also signing Breshad Perriman per Adam Schefter. To the practice squad or to 53 man?

Artie Burns signed to 53 man as well. There's CB5

    Artavis Pierce also to PS.

3 WRs in Perriman, Coulter, and now this kid Webster. No word on Dazz Newsome

They bolstered their ST with Webster and Perriman.

Initially thought this, then found out the Bears are Perriman's 7th team in 7 years.

He's a live body on the ST units anyway. Because we looked dead in preseason.

I just say Biggs say Adams got waived.

    So...WTF?

The 5 TE thing just kills me. The only thing I can think is they thought they were good and Horstead just impressed so much in preseason? I don't get it. It's not like we've got such an awesome deep lineup of TEs we need to carry 5. That plus having to keep Foles even though other teams are interested.

Fuck Ryan Pace. So glad his job is clearly safe through next year likely, hate to have hope that we actually have a decent GM.

Vikings just lost their starting TE for the year.

Maybe we could trade them one of the 17 we kept.

Chatter on local radio this morning is Perriman brings more to the table (deep threat ST as you pointed out) than a 5-6th WR on a depth chart who doesn't play ST. While Adams had the ridiculous/highlight-reel play or two, he also had a few dumb penalties and bad routes/blocking assignments.

Which sucks, because I think he earned a spot/could easily fit in as a WR3 or 4 because when one thinks of Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd, the first thing that comes to mind isn't health/durability.

When they signed Simba I thought Goodwin was toast. But instead now have two solid returners with Herbert as a 3rd, Goodwin can't stay on the field though.

Adams also reportedly had the drops in practice. And I get that. But he busted his ass in games and showed up. I think that should count for something. I'm not high on this coaching staffs ability to evaluate their own talent.

Nagy seems to be focused on speed and speed alone. Speed does nothing for you if your QB has no time to throw.

You guys haven’t heard about the 5 TE sets that Nagy plans on running?

I like the mix at WR, all things considered. Robinson and Perriman have size, Perriman the speed. You got the smurfs in Mooney, Goodwin, and Byrd.

We know Simba is going to be used like Cordarrelle Patterson. Can't wait for another blown up 4th down sweep that had no chance before the ball got snapped...

With the right offensive mind it's probably a pretty dangerous group. Sean Payton would do wonders with a receiving crew like this.

Matt Nagy will pound the square peg in the round hole over and over and probably tell everyone it actually takes 5 years to learn his offense.
