You guys favorite ILB is coming home to the AFCN. Joe Schobert got traded to Pittsburgh. This makes the Steelers the best ILB tandem in the AFCN.
Great news! Do we know which ex-Joe is going to tackle Nick Chubb nine yards down field - Haden or Schobert?
They can’t even come up with their own content. According to brown’s fans Schobert was one of the better IlBs when he was a FA. His 300 tackles the last two seasons and back to back pro bowl games say they were right.
How far back are you going for that content? lol! Relax...Shobert is what he is. Ya got a max effort guy. The Texans recently signed him to a fairly lucrative deal and now they are trading him to the Steelers for late rounder. So...
The Jaguars traded him to us. He’s a tackling machine so Chub and Hunt need to be ready to gain under 40 each both games against us.
hes actually a lot better coverage LB than run stuffer. He was the captain of some of the worst run defenses in the league. But like many have said, he has a high motor. Always around the ball.
I thought he was a little overrated when he reached free agency but he's a clear upgrade to Spillane. He was awful in coverage, probably worse than Vince Williams - which is saying something.
They will almost assuredly restructure his deal and he's likely a one year rental so that means 5.25M in dead money next year. Expensive rental.
Better news. Jax paid 1/2 his 2021 salary. Steelers restructured the remaining half. Dead money less than 1.8M in 2022 if he's released.
I also think "one of of the better ILBs" chatter was perhaps (or at least for me) a bit of concern letting go a guy who had posted 133 tackles, 7 TFLs, 4 INTs, and 9 passes defenced when the cupboard was *literally* bare at the LB position. Fast-forward through 2020 and the stunning lack of talent/depth at the LB position would have been the Achilles' heel of this team had we also not fielded the single-worst secondary in NFL history. Only that deficit blurred the blunder that was our LB situation.
